The Giants have added another serious weapon to their defense, selecting Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter with the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Carter, who was viewed by most experts as one of the two best players in the draft (along with Travis Hunter), will join a loaded front seven that includes Dexter Lawrence, Brian Burns, and Kayvon Thibodeaux.

Carter, a 21-year-old Philadelphia native, had a standout junior season in 2024 for the Nittany Lions.

In 16 games, Carter amassed a career-best 12 sacks, forced two fumbles, and had a career-high 68 tackles in his first year after being converted from an off-the-ball linebacker.

NFL comparisons for him include Micah Parsons, Von Miller, and Burns.

New York's last two Super Bowl winning teams were loaded up front.

The Giants' roster for their Super Bowl XLII victory over the undefeated Patriots had Michael Strahan, Osi Umenyiora, Mathias Kiwanuka, and Antonio Pierce.

In Super Bowl XLVI, Big Blue's defensive attack against the Pats featured Kiwanuka, Jason Pierre-Paul, and Justin Tuck.

With Carter now in tow to add even more talent to the defensive front — and legitimate secondary help added earlier this offseason with the signings of safety Jevon Holland and cornerback Paulson Adebo — the Giants' defense is now young and very dangerous.
