It turns out that Shedeur Sanders wasn’t the only notable prospect who fell victim to a prank phone call during the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Giants edge rusher Abdul Carter also received a bogus call from someone claiming to be from the Jacksonville Jaguars, telling Carter he was going to be taken with the No. 2 overall pick.

It’s unclear how Carter’s number was made public.

“It’s unfortunate that these private numbers are getting to the people making the prank calls,” Carter’s agent Drew Rosenhaus told Schefter. “Abdul and I knew it was BS and didn’t even tell his family about the call.”

Carter, of course, was taken by the Giants with the No. 3 overall pick, giving Big Blue the consensus best pass-rusher in this year’s class.

During the draft, a video of the Sanders prank call went viral, with the callers claiming to be members of the New Orleans Saints front office.

Following an NFL investigation, it was revealed that Sanders’ number was obtained without permission via an unlocked iPad by Jax Ulbrich, the son of former Jets interim head coach and current Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich.

As a result of the confidential information leaking, the Falcons were fined $250,000 and Ulbrich was personally fined $100,000.

Sanders was later drafted in the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns.
