The New York Mets on Friday announced righthander Orlando Hernandez will undergo surgery on the first toe of his right foot to address a bunion.
Hernandez, 39, has not pitched this season, his third with the Mets.
The veteran owns a career record of 90-65 with two saves, nine complete games, two shutouts and a 4.13 ERA in 219 games - eight relief appearances - over 11 seasons with the New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, Arizona Diamondbacks and Mets.
