2014 NHL Draft

With the Rangers five picks today, Gordie Clark says that the Rangers will still be able to find guys who can play in the top six up front or top four on defense and that the Rangers will be able to find "NHL players" but maybe not "impact players."

Clark said "This year could be all over the place. In the second round, there are so many players, we have a hard time getting three scouts to agree on one player, it's that kind of draft." (Rangers)

Clark added, "With the first round we have almost always gone for the best player available, that we feel is in the spot. Last year we didn't pick until the third and this year it's not until the end of the second this year so you need to wait and see how it all comes out in the wash with what the other teams are taking." In a chat with the Rangers website, Gordie Clark said that one position the Rangers focus on tomorrow with their four pics could be goaltending.

Clark said, "I think we can say that we need to stock some goalies and I have never gone for goalies unless I felt they could be number one goalies, Cam Talbot we got as a free agent and was one of the best backups in the league and we go for guys who we think can be number one goalies, there hasn't been much in the past but this year looks like a pretty good year so we have been looking hard in that area."

McKeens Draft Guide has six goalies ranked in their top sixty with 5 between 40 and 60. They also rank four other goalies from 60 to 120.
