According to STATS:

  • T.J. McConnell's turnaround jumper at the buzzer gave the 76ers a 98-97 home victory over the Knicks on January 11. The loss snapped New York's overall five-game win streak in this series, although it still owns an active five-game home winning streak over Philadelphia, including a 119-113 double-overtime victory in the teams' last meeting at Madison Square Garden (January 18, 2016).

The New York Knicks face the Philadelphia 76ers on the road on Friday at 7 p.m.

According to STATS:

  • The Knicks (3-0) are trying to sweep this season series for just the third time in franchise history (1992-93 (5-0) & 1994-95 (4-0)).
  • Philadelphia's 107-93 victory over New Orleans on Tuesday was its 10th of the season; that means the NBA record for the fewest wins in an 82-game season will continue to be held by the 1972-73 76ers (9-73).
  • New York has won 31 games this season, which is 14 more than it had in 2014-15. That is the biggest increase in wins by any team this season. However, the Knicks are just 1-5 in their last six contests.
  • Arron Afflalo is averaging 20.0 (60/3) points and 7.4 (22/3) rebounds in his three games against the 76ers this season, shooting 57.5 (23/40) percent from the floor in these contests.
  • Carl Landry is averaging 19.0 points per game on 72.7 (24/33) percent shooting so far this month. He had 22 points on 9-for-10 from the floor in Tuesday's win over the Pelicans.
  • Robert Covington has made at least one three-pointer in 20 straight games. He is the second 76er to have a 20+ game streak this season (Hollis Thompson, 22 gms, December 14-February 3).

Sam Hinkie couldn't even stick around to see if the sorry Philadelphia 76ers team he built could win consecutive games.

The opportunity for that to happen for the first time this season comes Friday night against the visiting New York Knicks, two days after the general manager packed up his office and bid a 10-68 team adieu.

Former NBA executive of the year Bryan Colangelo - Philadelphia chairman of basketball operations Jerry Colangelo's son - is set to take Hinkie's place after the third-year GM announced his resignation Wednesday.

The Brooklyn Nets face the Philadelphia 76ers on the road Friday at 7 p.m.

According to STATS:

  • The Nets and 76ers have split their two meetings so far this season. Philadelphia's 103-98 victory on February 6 snapped its three-game home losing streak in this series.
  • Brooklyn blew a 16-point halftime lead in its 104-99 loss to Toronto on Tuesday. It was the Nets' biggest blown halftime lead in a defeat since they lost to New Orleans in overtime on March 24, 2014 after leading by 16 at the half.
  • The 76ers have given up 100 or more points in 12 straight games; that is their longest such streak since they allowed 100+ points in 13 consecutive contests, January 31-March 1, 2014.
  • Brook Lopez had 35 points and seven blocked shots against the Raptors on Tuesday, going 13-for-17 (.765) from the floor and 9-for-9 (1.000) from the free-throw line. That made him just the second player since 1973-74 with 35+ points and 7+ blocks in a game in which he shot 75+ percent from the field and 100 percent from the FT line (David Robinson vs Sea, March 20, 1990).
  • Isaiah Canaan has hit four 3-pointers in back-to back contests. He has 16 games with 4+ threes on the season, with him coming off the bench in half of those contests.
  • Nerlens Noel has 226 career blocked shots and 225 career steals. That makes him one of just two members of the 2013 draft class (Giannis Antetokounmpo) with at least 200 of each.

The Brooklyn Nets have won back-to-back games just twice this season. The most recent instance came two months ago against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Joe Johnson and the Nets look to build on their best performance of the season and beat the 76ers again in a matchup of two of the NBA's worst teams Saturday night.

The only thing preventing Brooklyn (13-38) from being at the bottom of the Atlantic Division is league-worst Philadelphia (7-43).

(AP) -- Kristaps Porzingis fared well against a fellow top rookie in the New York Knicks' last game and his team came away with a victory.

He'll face another high 2015 draft pick Friday night in the Philadelphia 76ers' Jahlil Okafor, who missed what would have been their first regular-season meeting due to a suspension - the result of off-court behavior that has Porzingis looking like the better pick at the moment.

The Knicks go for their third straight victory when they visit a woeful 76ers club that's dropped eight in a row overall and 10 of 11 at home on the season.

According to STATS...

  • Since 2011-12, the Nets have won 11 games against the 76ers, tied for their most against any opponent (also 11 wins vs. Charlotte).
  • The Sixers, coming off a 51-point loss (119-68) to the Spurs, have now lost twice by at least 50 points over the last two seasons (lost by 53 to Dallas on November 13, 2014). Since the 2003-04 season, there have been just two other 50-point losses in the NBA.
  • After starting the season with just three wins over their first 15 games, the Nets have won three of their last six games (all three wins at home).
  • Jerami Grant has 14 games with multiple blocks this season, trailing only Miami's Hassan Whiteside (20) for the most in the NBA.
  • Since November 7, only one player (Andre Drummond 15) has recorded more double-doubles than former Sixer and current Net Thaddeus Young (10).
  • Brook Lopez is one of just five players (also Paul George, DeMarcus Cousins, Blake Griffin and Anthony Davis) averaging at least 20 points and eight rebounds on the season.

NEW YORK -- The Philadelphia 76ers have suspended embattled rookie center Jahlil Okafor for two games in the wake of multiple off-court incidents, including the emergence of a second videotaped fight outside a club in Boston one night last week.

Okafor was reportedly being taunted by fans in Boston and responded by fighting, with TMZ catching both incidents on video. In the latest video, Okafor is seen throwing punches at a heckler and a melee ensues in the street. A man gets knocked to the ground, leaving him with cuts on his face, although it's unclear who knocked him down. The second video did not become public until Wednesday, hours after the Sixers beat the Lakers for their first win of the season and hours before they were to meet the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. In another incident in October, a man reportedly pulled a gun on Okafor at a club in Philadelphia. Three weeks ago, Okafor was also reportedly stopped for driving 108-mph over the Ben Franklin Bridge.

"Jahlil is a very important part of our organization and our future. While we are disappointed with his recent actions, we have faith in him as a valued member of the Sixers," the 76ers statement reads. "We will provide the necessary resources to support him on his journey and will do our part to help him succeed both on and off the court."

Tonight, the Nets return home to face the Philadelphia 76ers at the Barclays Center. It will be the first meeting this season for the Atlantic Division rivals, who will also play each other again this Friday in Philadelphia.

The Sixers have struggled as of late, with six straight losses entering tonight, and an NBA-worst 1-10 record on the road. Philadelphia has lost 10 straight games on the road now after initially winning their first road game of the year back on November 1.

Rookie sensation Michael Carter-Williams has been out of the lineup?since December 3?with a skin infection on his right knee, and the 76ers are 1-9 without him. Carter-Williams is listed as doubtful for tonight's game and is not expected to play.

The Nets have won three of their last four contests, seemingly stabilizing things in Brooklyn... at least for the time being. But, for a team still in desperate need of as many wins as they can get, the next two and a half weeks could give us a glimpse of what we're in store for the rest of the way.

That's because the Nets kick off a pivotal stretch tonight at the Barclays Center. Two of their next three meetings with be with the Sixers, with a home game against the Wizards sandwiched in between. Two tough match ups with the Pacers loom (on the 23 and 28 of December), but outside of them, and arguably a Bulls team on Christmas that's without Derrick Rose, the Nets have finally hit an elongated soft spot in their schedule.

Home against Philly, home against Washington, at Philly, with games against Milwaukee and Sacramento scattered around the Pacers and Bulls meetings. That's a stretch where the Nets can do some damage. Philadelphia has lost six in a row, and the Nets have to make sure that that streak hits seven. Brooklyn is just two games off the division pace, and a hot stretch against beatable opponents could place them in the driver's seat in the division as we turn the calendar to 2014. That's??a huge opportunity.

The ?Bench Mob? played good minutes to start the second to extend the lead to seven, but a 7-0 run from the 76ers tied the game midway through the quarter. On Tuesday night, the Nets defeated the Philadelphia 76ers by a final score of 109-89.

The Skinny: The first quarter started off ugly with both teams shooting poorly from the field and turning the ball over. Deron Williams showed up to play however, scoring eight of the first 11 Nets? points including hitting two three-pointers. He finished the quarter with 10 points, but Philadelphia?s Jrue Holiday outdid D-Will by scoring 12 points on a perfect 4-of-4 from the field in the quarter. The Nets led by two after one.

Just hours after dealing with the aftermath of Tuesday morning?s incident, Andray Blatche started the second quarter hot, scoring Brooklyn?s first eight points of the quarter in the first four minutes. But the rest of the team couldn?t buy a basket. The 76ers regained the lead midway through the quarter on a Jason Richardson lay-up. The Nets? starters re-entered and orchestrated a 7-0 run to go back on top with Joe Johnson finding his stroke. Despite shooting 38 percent in the half, the Nets held a one-point lead at the break.

Afterwards, he spoke to SNY.tv about his progress and when he hopes to make his debut.
