Mets reliever AJ Ramos will undergo season-ending surgery on Wednesday to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder.

Mets GM Sandy Alderson said last week that Ramos was getting a second opinion and surgery could be an option.

Ramos, who landed on the 10-day DL due to rotator cuff tendinitis, struggled on the mound before his DL stint. He last pitched against the Brewers on May 25-26, where he walked in the winning run in extras, and allowed three earned runs over 0.2 innings in those two contests respectively.

Mets RHP AJ Ramos has been placed on the 10-day DL (retroactive May 27) with a right shoulder strain, the team announced Monday.

Ramos went to New York to undergo an MRI on his shoulder after feeling tightness in his appearance Saturday. It turns out there was a problem with the shoulder, and he will need some rest to get it right again.

The righty has struggled on the mound so far this season, with his latest outings in Milwaukee as prime examples. On Friday, he faced two batters and walked both with the winning run coming across on the final walk. Saturday was worse as he allowed three runs in less than an inning.

AJ Ramos' struggles continued in his latest outing, and once again, it cost the Mets the game.

In the Mets' recent series against the Reds earlier this month, it was Adam Duvall who launched a walkoff homer off Ramos. But, this time, the Brewers didn't even need to swing the bat to walk off the game. Ramos issued back-to-back walks to bring in the winning run in a tough 4-3 loss.

Though none of the runs were Ramos' particularily, his issues on the bump have become alarming. And he knows it...
