A parade of high-major coaches has come through Putnam (CT) Science Academy in recent weeks to recruit Hamidou Diallo, maybe the most explosive player in the Class of 2017.

UConn's Kevin Ollie, UNLV's Marvin Menzies and Arizona's Sean Miller were all in this week, while Indiana's Tom Crean, Kentucky's John Calipari, Kansas' Bill Self and assistants from Syracuse and Arizona State have all been through recently.

The 6-foot-6 Queens, N.Y., native has yet to set any official visits, but will take an unofficial visit to Syracuse this weekend, a source said.

NEW YORK -- Playing in front of some 50 credentialed NBA personnel, Nick Richards has been impressive during the first two days of Under Armour Elite 24 practices.

"[Thursday] was better, I could've done better [Friday] but now I just gotta get ready for the main game," the 6-foot-11 Richards out of St. Patrick's High School told SNY.tv of Saturday's nationally televised contest (ESPNU, 7:30).

Richards competed on the Nike EYBL circuit with Expressions Elite but wanted to play in the Under Armour game for something new.

NEW YORK -- Hamidou Diallo could pull a Thon Maker and go directly from the preps to the pros in 2017, but the 6-foot-6 New York City wing says he prefers the college route.

"Possibly," the high-flying shooting guard told SNY.tv at the Under Armour Elite 24 practice on Friday of declaring for the 2017 NBA Draft, "but I'm not really looking at that right now. But it's possible."

He added: "I wouldn't be able to answer that question for you because I'm honestly just thinking about college right now. I want to go to college for sure."

NEW YORK -- On Wednesday afternoon I stopped by NY Rens practice at Baruch College in New York and asked head coach Andy Borman what college programs had told him they planned on watching 2017 shooting guard Hamidou Diallo at next week's Peach Jam.

"Everybody," Borman told me. "Hamidou's got offers from every high-major program that I know of."

The 6-foot-6 Diallo is an explosive high-flying New York City native who plays for Putnam Science Academy (CT). He holds offers from Kentucky, Duke, Syracuse and UConn, among others.

For all the talk about the decline of New York City basketball, the Class of 2017 might just prove otherwise.

In the latest 2017 ESPN 100, New York and the surrounding area has five players ranked in the Top 50.

Mohamed Bamba, the 7-footer from Harlem who plays for the Westtown (Pa.) School and the PSA Cardinals, is No. 3. He holds offers from a Who's Who of schools, including Duke, Kentucky and Harvard.

NEW YORK -- Hamidou Diallo may have been the most athletic player at this weekend's Nike EYBL stop in Brooklyn -- and coaches from virtually every high-major program in the nation came away impressed with his play.

When Diallo's Rens lost to the PSA Cardinals 63-55 in Sunday's showcase game, the 6-foot-6 Class of 2017 guard went for 17 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 blocks.

"His upside's through the roof," Rens coach Andy Borman told SNY.tv "He's the most athletic naturally gifted player in the country and maybe not even for his class, maybe just hands down. The kid is 6-6, can do everything and does everything willingly. Plays defense, blocks shots, hustle plays, but the most impressive thing that I've seen is his basketball IQ is through the roof. It's not like he's just a gifted kid but he doesn't know what he's doing. Everything he does has a reason."

A 6-foot-6, 195-pound Class of 2017 guard from Putnam Science Academy (CT), Diallo recently scored his 1,000th career point.

"I loved the atmosphere at the Maryland-Michigan game," Diallo told SNY.tv. "The fans were awesome and the arena was packed. Maryland has a really nice campus and great facilities as well."
