NEW YORK -- Seton Hall signee Myles Powell scored 17 points on 7-of-21 shooting from the floor, as Team East lost to Team New York 148-128 at the Jordan Brand Classic Regional Game at the Barclays Center Friday night. The sharpshooter was 3-of-14 from behind the arc.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Powell is still working his back into shape after re-injuring the left foot he broke in October. He re-injured it in February.

Powell will join a talented core of juniors - Khadeen Carrington, Desi Rodriguez, Angel Delgado and potentially Isaiah Whitehead - that won the Big East Tournament by defeating Villanova, the eventual national champions.

Four-star recruit Myles Powell has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for Seton Hall beginning in the fall of 2016.

Powell, who committed in September, is on the ESPN Top 100 list for Class of 2016 student-athletes, and is Seton Hall's first commit for its 2016 recruiting class. Powell is also ranked the third-best recruit in the state of New Jersey, and is considered one of the best three-point shooters in the country.

"We are very excited to welcome Myles into the Seton Hall Basketball family," head coach Kevin Willard said. "Myles has a tremendous shooting ability, and he also can beat his defenders off the dribble. He is a terrific young man who will fit in very well in our program and at the University."

CHICAGO -- For 2016 shooting guard prospect Myles Powell, playing at the Nike Global Challenge isn't just about getting better as a player; it's about showing everyone what he can do on the court.

"This is probably the biggest event that I've been to so far," Powell told SNY.tv Saturday. "Coming down here was a great opportunity. I wanted to come down here and show why I should be down here. I was a little upset because I didn't get invited to the Nike Academy, so I wanted to prove I was one of the top players out here."

Powell proved just that on Saturday, dropping 30 points and shooting 6-of-9 from three-point range in his USA East squad's 135-119 loss to USA Midwest in the Challenge's third-place game. He was also named to the U.S. All-Tournament Team.
