NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. -- In his first comments since Taurean Thompson signed a financial aid agreement with Syracuse, Jim Boeheim says the 6-foot-10 forward will add depth to an already loaded frontcourt.

"He's big, he's long, he can shoot," Boeheim told SNY.tv at the Peach Jam where he's recruiting. "He's a good player, he's developing. I think he's come on late."

Thompson, who attended Brewster Academy (N.H.) for the past year, committed to Syracuse over Michigan State and Seton Hall on July 1, and on Thursday Syracuse issued a press release saying Thompson had officially signed financial aid papers -- although it lacked comments from Boeheim.

The NBA Draft has come and gone and Taurean Thompson is still on the clock.

The 6-foot-10 power forward from Brewster (N.H.) Academy told me on June 2 he planned to decide right after visiting Michigan State. That was three weeks ago. His graduation at Brewster was a month ago.

"Of course it 's a little frustating because I want to commit, too," Thompson told me June 2. "It means I gotta go on another visit and then I'll commit right after."

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Brewster (N.H.) Academy power forward Taurean Thompson says he doesn't plan to commit to a college until late in the spring, after players make decisions about the NBA Draft.

"I'm probably going to wait to see who goes to the draft and that's when I'll probably decide, all the way deep spring," the 6-foot-10 Thompson said after going for 23 points and 16 rebounds as Brewster beat Vermont Academy, 94-87, at the Hoophall Classic despite 37 points from Miami-bound guard Bruce Brown.

Thompson said this fall at the National Prep Showcase that Seton Hall and Syracuse were working the hardest for his services. Since then, Providence, Pittsburgh, N.C. State and Georgetown have stepped up their focus.

NEW YORK -- St. John's and Maryland are the schools working hardest for Jordan Tucker, the talented Class of 2017 wing out of Archbishop Stepinac High School.

The 6-foot-7 Tucker has already visited St. John's numerous times, and was at their win over Syracuse at Madison Square Garden in December. He's also planning a trip to Maryland.

"I know I'm supposed to go to Maryland the 29th or 30th," Tucker told SNY.tv. after going for 25 points and 10 rebounds en route to MVP honors as Stepinac beat Gilman, 60-49, Saturday in the Big Apple Basketball Invitational at Baruch College.

The 6-foot-10 Thompson stopped by Seton Hall on Friday for practice and then attended Georgetown's 77-47 blowout of Bryant on Saturday at the Verizon Center. Thompson and his mother, Sherese, also took a brief tour of campus.

Thompson said last week at the National Prep Showcase that Seton Hall and Syracuse were working the hardest for his services. Since then, both Pittsburgh and N.C. State have offered and he visited Georgetown. Thompson plans to sign in the spring.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Taurean Thompson, a 6-foot-10 power forward at Brewster (N.H.) Academy, says two schools are working the hardest for his services right now.

"I'm been really just talking to Seton Hall and Syracuse," Thompson said after going for 19 points and six rebounds as Brewster topped Sunrise Christian Academy, 71-64, at the National Prep Showcase at Albertus Magnus College.

Asked if those were the two main schools on his list, he said, "Yeah, I guess so. I've been on an official to Syracuse and I've been to Seton Hall a bunch of times."

Ranked the No. 11 center by 247Sports.com, Thompson is a Manhattan native who transferred from St. Anthony's before the season because of what he called "a lot of personal stuff involved.

"It wasn't really the school, but it was really a lot of personal stuff going on," he said of leaving the school led by Hall of Fame coach Bob Hurley.

Now he loves Brewster and head coach Jason Smith.

"It was a smooth adjustment and I'm getting better," he said.

As for Syracuse and Seton Hall, Thompson likes aspects of both schools.

"Syracuse, the tradition," he said. "Coach [Jim] Boeheim is a great coach."

They have told him he would fit well into the 2-3 zone.

"They say they see me as a high-post, face-up guy, especially Syracuse," he said. "They like me because of my length in the 2-3 [zone]."

Thompson said he's friendly with Syracuse freshman Malachi Richardson and Frank Howard.

Seton Hall is also a factor "because they have a lot of young players, too," Thompson said.

"I've talked to Isaiah [Whitehead] a little bit," he said. "I know Khadeen [Carrington] and Desi [Rodriguez] as well."

Thompson also said he's open to new schools.

"Nobody's really contacted me of late," he said. "I got an offer from Providence but they haven't really talked to me of late, so right now it's just those two."

As of now, he's targeting a decision in the spring.

"Probably mid-spring," he said.
