Arizona commit Terrance Ferguson will play overseas next season, with multiple reports indicating he will compete in Australia.

"Terrance Ferguson informed me earlier this week that he has decided to pursue professional opportunities instead of attending the University of Arizona this fall," Arizona coach Sean Miller said in a statement. "I hope this next chapter of his basketball career goes well, and his goal of one day becoming an NBA player is realized."

"If he doesn't clear academically like [Emmanuel] Mudiay, then he's going to go overseas," a source told SNY.tv earlier this month.

Arizona commit Terrance Ferguson could end up playing overseas next season if he's not cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse, a source with direct knowledge of the situation told SNY.tv.

Ferguson and Arizona are expected to learn sometime this week if he's cleared.

"If he doesn't clear academically like [Emmanuel] Mudiay, then he's going to go overseas," the source said.

Fresh off his MVP performance in Saturday's Nike Hoop Summit, Terrance Ferguson has committed to Arizona, he announced on Wednesday via Twitter.

All signs had pointed to Arizona as that was the only visit the 6-foot-7 shooter had taken since decommitting from Alabama on March 1.

He also considered Baylor, Kansas, Maryland, North Carolina and N.C. State.

PORTLAND, Ore. - In the 19th Nike Hoop Summit, the United States blew out the World team 101-67 led by Terrance Ferguson's game-high 21 points and Hoop Summit record of seven three-pointers.

The game turned quickly with the U.S. team opening the game on a 16-0 run and later the 34-point margin of victory set another Hoop Summit record.

"We came out today and played very well," said U.S. head coach L.J. Goolsby. "If you look at the stat sheet they shot close to 16 percent from three and had 29 turnovers. Our whole motto this week was to come out and be very aggressive from the beginning and I think the guys did an excellent job today of doing that setting the tone early."

CHICAGO -- Terrance Ferguson doesn't know yet where he'll play this fall, but it's not just the coaches that are recruiting him.

Fellow guard and McDonald's All-American Kobi Simmons is pushing hard for Ferguson to join him in the desert to play under Sean Miller. The addition of Ferguson would add even more talent to Arizona's already-impressive backcourt, which includes new recruits in Simmons and Rawle Alkins and possibly Allonzo Trier, if he elects to return to campus.

On Tuesday, Ferguson hung out with and participated in a photoshoot with another uncommitted prospect in Josh Jackson at the McDonald's All-American Game media day at the United Center. Ferguson, however, said the two don't really discuss the recruitment process or the potential to team up somewhere. The two have mutual interest in schools like Arizona and Kansas.

After weeks of speculation that it might happen, Terrance Ferguson officially decommitted from Alabama on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-7 Ferguson initially committed to Alabama on Aug. 17 after also considering Arizona, Kansas, Louisville, and North Carolina, among others.

"He's opening back up his recruitment just based off of him losing his grandmother a month ago," Advanced Prep International coach Ray Forsett told Scout.com. "He wants to make the right decision. He's very much still interested in going to Alabama, but he wants to pray about it and make sure he's making the right decision."
