The Giants have resigned OL Adam Gettis to the team's practice squad, while RB George Winn and OL Laurence Gibson have been cut.

Gettis was cut prior to Sunday's win over the Cowboys in order to make room on the 53-man roster for RB Shane Vereen. After going unclaimed on waivers, Gettis will return to the Giants' practice squad.

Gettis received his first career start in Week 12 at left guard after Justin PughBrett Jones, and Marshall Newhouse all suffered injuries.

The Giants are on a roll, having won five straight games to move to 7-3 on the season -- the third best record in the NFC. They are handling adversity, winning tight games, and have put themselves in position for their first playoff berth since 2011.

But is it all really as good as it seems?

Maybe it is, but don't forget that the Giants' winning streak has come against teams with a combined 19-30-1 record -- and none better than 5-5. Three of those games were at home. One was in a neutral site. And despite those advantages they've still only won those five games by a combined 23 points.

The Giants placed Geoff Schwartz on season-ending injured reserve on Tuesday with a broken left leg.

To replace him on the roster, the Giants signed Adam Gettis.

Gettis, a familiar face to the team, was with them during training camp and on the practice squad for two different stints this season. Gettis was just signed off the Raiders practice squad.

Gettis played 13 games for the Redskins in 2013. He was on the Giants' roster late in the 2014 season, but was inactive for the final two games.
