Six days from what most assume will be his last day with the Jets, Rex Ryan left no doubt during Tuesday's press conference he still believes he can lead a team to a Super Bowl title (Jets, AP Dec. 23).

"I was given some gifts and obviously a lot less in other areas, but I can coach football and I know that," Ryan said . "But, it's more based on the people that I'm around and the people that I know. I think that gives me the belief that one day, I'm going to win that thing. That's how I feel."

The Jets (3-12) end the season at Miami Sunday, and Ryan is expected to be fired the next day. But he isn't going out without a fight.

We have come to a breaking point in the NFL season where critical wins, or losses, could be the difference between making the playoffs, or sitting on your couch wrapped up in your favorite snuggie with a bowl of popcorn and watching them.

There is no question that certain teams such as the Pittsburgh Steelers, Miami Dolphins, and Arizona Cardinals need a lot of help to make the playoffs, while division titles in the NFC West, and AFC East and others could be secured this week.

Another brutal week for some teams in a Sunday that was packed with upsets and several close calls that resulted in late game finishes. The Detroit Lions were the biggest surprise of the weekend, as they forced three turnovers from the undefeated Chicago Bears in a win that ties them atop the NFC North. The Washington Redskins finally notched their first win of the season, while the Eagles, Cowboys and Giants all suffered losses. Last night, New Orleans hosted the Miami Dolphins and completed the rout that pushed them to 4-0; making a case that they will strongly compete for the NFC conference (the Saints meet the Seattle Seahawks in week 13 in a much anticipated matchup).? Here are my NFC Power Rankings for Week 4...

?1. Seattle Seahawks?(4-0): Not much to say except that the Seahawks were handed?a gift on Sunday?against the Houston Texans.?What looked like their first loss of the season was anything but that. Down 20-3, the Seahawks were able to rally and beat the Texans in?overtime.?A key play;?CB Richard Sherman picked off?Texans QB Matt Schaub for a touchdown?in the?fourth quarter on a poorly thrown?ball and an even worse play call by Houston. Seattle has shown that it can win tight games and faces a tough test next week when they travel to Indianapolis to face?Andrew Luck and the Colts.?Seattle's 62-point score?differential speaks for itself; this team?can score and their defense is one?of the best in the NFL.??Ranking last week: 1

Fourth Quarter

- 3rd downs are easy for the Ravens today. They could take a knee on the first two plays of each drive and still convert easily. This giants defense is a joke and they've lost all f what made them champions last season.

- The Ravens settle for a FG but take 6 minutes off of the clock with that drive. Their lead is now 23 points and the Giants must hope for a miracle collapse.

Fourth Quarter:?

- The Giants?Special?teams lets them down once again and the Steelers will begin the drive from the 12 yard line.

- It becomes a problem that the Giants can not hold onto a lead or put away teams with touchdowns. They can only have so?many?late comebacks before that?philosophy?hurts them.

Big Blue Swept AFC East in 2011

With a growing trend of an increase in the number of lower seeds reaching, and even winning Super Bowls, the best seeds in each of the NFL?s two conferences have obviously not always translated regular season success into postseason accomplishment in recent years.

But, at least one thing has held true for the most part ? to represent your conference in the Super Bowl, you usually have to at least play winning football within than conference.

It's 43 Years and Counting Now For Giants' Jawing Co-Tenants

Sooner or later in the young regime of head coach Rex Ryan and quarterback Mark Sanchez, the New York Jets might realize how to put together more than one good half of football in an AFC title game.

And, they might even discover how to reach that game without having to do it the hard way.

The New York Jets don?t just talk trash like some teams. No, for them, it?s done in such a bold and brash manner, it?s more like ?brash-talking.?

And, when you do as much ?brash-talking? as the New York Jets have done, it sometimes takes shocking the football world to back it up.

The Jets (13-5) did just that on Sunday, with the biggest turnaround (49 points) from the regular season to the postseason, against the same opponent, in the same year, in NFL history.
