1:12PM: The Rangers have announced that Alex Georgiev has been sent back to Hartford.
From the Rangers release:
- Georgiev has appeared in 10 games with the Rangers this season, posting a 4-4-1 record, along with a 3.15 GAA and a .918 SV%.
- He made his NHL debut on Feb. 22 at Montreal, becoming the first Bulgarian-born goaltender in NHL history and the first goaltender of Russian nationality to appear in a game with the Rangers in franchise history.
- Georgiev stopped 38 of 40 shots he faced in his NHL debut against the Canadiens, establishing a franchise record for saves by a goaltender in his first NHL game.
- In addition, he became the first goaltender in Rangers history to make 30 or more saves in each of his first five NHL starts.
On Georgiev, Jeff Gorton said earlier today that he was sent down because the plan was always to go with Lundqvist and Pavelec when they were healthy.
