Yoenis Cespedes' solo home run in the sixth inning last night was the first home run to the third deck in Citi Field history (not including batting practice), the Mets said.

"I think it woke us. I really do," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "He hadn't hit one in a while and that was a big one. I really think that got the guys energized."

According to Statcast, Cespedes' home run traveled 440.79 feet (with an exit velocity of 110 MPH). ESPN's Home Run Tracker said the "true distance" -- a.k.a. if the home run flew, uninterrupted, back to field level -- of the dinger was 466 feet, which would tie it with Giancarlo Stanton's home run from May 30, 2015 as the longest homer at Citi Field.

Patrick Vieira new head coach of New York City FC answers questions from Media during press conference at Yankee Stadium (Noah K. Murray)

NYCFC head coach Patrick Vieira spoke to the media on Thursday, before his team takes on the New England Revolution on Saturday.

Here's what he had to say…

  • Regarding national team callups, the best option for MLS teams is to have depth. He's seen a good week at practice with players fighting to get into his starting XI.
  • He needs depth due to the callups.
  • He blamed their slow start against Orlando on their mental approach to the game. He said the team didn't have the right concentration or focus.
  • The goals they've conceded this season have been due to NYCFC mistakes more than anything else, he said.
  • They plan to organize some games during their bye week for players who haven't played much.

Here's what New York Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch said on Wednesday...

  • Gonzalo Veron, Gideon Baah and Ronald Zubar all have "significant" injuries, but the team doesn't expect them to be out for a long stretch of time. >> Read more…
  • Marsch feels worst for Veron, who was working back from an injury before playing against Houston and reinjuring himself.
  • It will be a "challenge" to work through injuries and roster crunch due to national team callups.
  • Marsch thought the team played "tentative" during the first half against Houston.
  • The team will use the bye week to rest players and rehab from injuries.
  • The Red Bulls have "room to improve" on the roster, but the team will be cautious on what the team needs because "it's still so early in the season." He identified center back as a need.

New York Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch spoke to the media before his team takes on the Houston Dynamo on Saturday. Here's what he had to say…

  • Marsch said the Red Bulls need to stay aggressive in their game plan, despite losing the first two games and are yet to score a goal.
  • He hopes that Gonzalo Veron plays well on Saturday, because he opens up the midfield and helps take the pressure off Bradley Wright-Phillips.
  • Marsch hopes that Veron and Wright-Phillips prove "to be a handful" for opposing defenses.
  • The Red Bulls can't continue to "give games away."
  • "We've made a lot of mistakes and that's cost us. We have to find a way to eliminate that and we have to allow ourselves to grow throughout the season to become the team we know we can become."
  • The upcoming bye may be good for the Red Bulls, but only if they go into it off a win.
  • He expects Houston to be "very dangerous."
  • He used three adjectives when describing the Dynamo team: Grittiness, competitiveness and explosiveness.
