Today was exit interview day for the Guelph Storm, who were knocked out of the OHL playoffs. According to the Guelph Mercury's Tony Saxon, the team's beat writer, Andrey Pedan is one of three players headed for a pro job:

Pedan had 145 penalty minutes and 44 points in 60 regular season games this year for Guelph, plus 16 PIM and four points in five playoff games.

Tonight, three of the Islanders' 2011 draft picks were eliminated from their respective post-season tournaments. That could pave the way for all of them to head east to either Long Island or, most likely, Bridgeport.

For one, defender Andrey Pedan, who scored a few goals for his team, was knocked out of the OHL playoffs tonight. If you read his twitter, it sounds like his bags are already packed. Pedan thanked "everybody for supporting [him] in Guelph," and "that [he] will be missing every one of you." He then proceeded to retweet a few dozen Islander fans, so yeah, I'd say he's headed eastward. Pedan doesn't yet have an ELC with the Isles.

Ryan Strome's IceDogs also lost tonight as did Scott Mayfield's Denver Pioneers. Strome has pretty clearly outgrown the OHL, scoring 34 goals and 94 points in 53 games. For Mayfield, he could still return to school as he is finishing up his sophomore year of college but all signs seem to point to him leaving early.

Update, 11:06am: The Islanders have until June 1 to sign Pedan, otherwise he can re-enter the draft. Any non-collegiate player who was under 20 when drafted can re-enter if they go un-signed for two years.

Original Story: The Islanders have a ton of defensive prospects in the system, partially due to the 2012 "We're Only Gonna Take Defenders Draft." In 2011, the Islanders took four defenders: Scott Mayfield in round two, Andrey Pedan in three, Robbie Russo in four and that guy who has been in the news lately, Brenden Kichton, in five. Mayfield and Kitchon may get entry level deals this summer but also doing good things is Pedan.

In 60 games this year for Guelph of the OHL, Pedan has 44 points and also 145 penalty minutes. Guelph is currently in the midst of a first round playoff series against the Kitchener Rangers, trailing 2-1. Last night, Guelph won 3-2 with the help of two goals from Pedan:
