Dreams can be fun.?Inception showed us this.

I have decided to take my first crack at a ?dream draft? for the Giants 2011 draft; not necessarily the perfect draft, but a mock draft created only with players I would like to see the Giants draft.? Obviously, all of these players will not be available for the Giants at the time of their projected selection, but each pick is within the realm of possibility, if not totally realistic.

Keep in mind that the Giants do not have a 5th round pick (traded for Sage Rosenfels), but have three 6th round picks (two compensatory picks).

Offensive tackles are abound in this year's draft. ?When the Giants' turn to select comes in Round One (#19) they may find it hard to pass on one of them.

Tyron Smith of USC will probably be gone. He is believed to have the most potential of any tackle in the draft.

The Giants may be looking at probably two of the following four: ?Anthony Castonzo of Boston College; Nate Solder of Colorado; Mississippi State's Derek Sherrod and Wisconsin's Gabe Carimi.

Why does everyone have the Giants taking an offensive lineman?

In doing my draft research, I've come across dozens of mock drafts. ?In the past, I've found that mock drafts help me to understand the?perceived?value of certain players in the eyes of fans and experts who have had a chance to watch these players more than I have. ?No, mock drafting is not an exact science, and is often a waste of time, but it does have its uses.

Two years ago, I compiled as many mock drafts as I could find to see what the general prediction was. ?This method produce the correct answer: Hakeem Nicks. ?Obviously, this won't always be the case (last year, the same method predicted Rolando McClain), but there is some value to be had from trying to understand the general consensus.
