Daniel Jones will undergo surgery to repair a torn ACL on Wednesday in New York, the Giants quarterback said and set a timeline for his recovery process in an interview on the “Up & Adams Show” with Kay Adams.

The surgery comes 17 days after Jones sustained the season-ending injury in New York’s 30-6 defeat in Las Vegas. The quarterback said that the pre-surgery process has included getting the “swelling out” and getting his range of motion back.

“It’s about an eight to nine to 10-month recovery period,” Jones told Adams. “So we’ll attack that and approach that work on that day by day and try to get back as fast I can.”

The early range of that timeline would put Jones on track to be ready around the start of training camp ahead of next season.

On the injury, suffered on the last play in the first quarter against the Raiders, he said he “felt his knee kinda shift or buckle” when he tried to make a cut, but that it didn’t hurt.

“In between quarters, I jogged and made some light cuts and felt like I was gonna give it a shot and see if it will hold up,” Jones continued. “And then the next play, I put my foot in the ground on my drop and felt that same kinda buckle or shift and I knew something was up at that point.

“Yeah, it was tough, a tough break. Obviously, worked hard to get back from the neck injury and be out there and tough break to have that happen. But it’s a part of the game and lot of guys go through it and a lot of guys come back stronger. That’s my goal and just gonna do everything I can to get back.”

Jones said the surgery – scheduled for the day before the Thanksgiving holiday – was “the best time for it” as he has “a lot of football to watch while I’m laid up, so I’m looking forward to that.”

The 26-year-old added it has been fun watching Tommy DeVito get a "big-time win for us on Sunday down in Washington."

On the current Giants starter, Jones said DeVito “has that kind of edge to him, he’s got a swagger to him.”

“He’s confident, but super hard-working, good dude, who’s come in and done everything he could to improve and continue to grow and that’s why he’s been ready for this last few games,” Jones said. “It’s been fun working with him in the room and he’s a good player."

As far as his future in New York with the Giants appearing destined for a Top 5 pick in next year’s draft – a draft that many believe has several good quarterback prospects – Jones said he is focused on the day-to-day of getting healthy and his post-surgery recovery process.

“How that all works out is down the road a ways and I don’t have a ton of control over it,” he told Adams. “I'm just focused on doing what I can do to get back.”

Jones signed a four-year, $160 million contract this past offseason, but there is no guaranteed money on the deal after the 2024 season.
