After early reports of James Harden being 'focused' on a trade to the Brooklyn Nets were confirmed by SNY's Ian Begley earlier this offseason, it appears that the former MVP has extended his list of preferred destinations.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Tuesday that Harden has indicated he'd be willing to go to a contender — including the Philadelphia 76ers, the new home of Daryl Morey.
Despite no substantive talks between the two sides, Morey, the former GM of the Rockets and current President of Basketball Operations in Philly, has been adamant he wants to keep Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid.
Harden made a statement over the offseason when he turned down a max extension from the Rockets that would have made him the first player in NBA history to get paid $50 million in a season.
Per Begley, however, the idea of a Harden trade to Brooklyn didn't resonate with a number of Nets players after they were contacted by some people in Harden's camp.
The Nets would have to give up most of the depth on their roster and a number of draft picks if they want to pull off a deal for the reigning three-time scoring champion.
Nets head coach Steve Nash and Kevin Durant both downplayed the Harden rumors Monday as the team began training camp.
As trade talks remain quiet, Harden finally reported to Houston Tuesday after missing the first couple days of practice, Wojnarowski reported Tuesday.
