Kevin Durant has agreed to a four-year, $198 million contract extension with the Nets, his agent Rich Kleiman confirmed.

Durant will decline his player option for the 2022-2023 season, so the extension will begin after next season.

The two-time NBA Finals MVP, league MVP and 11-time All-Star averaged 26.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.3 blocks per game last year in his first season on the court for the Nets, and also his first back from missing the season prior with a torn Achilles.

Durant, who turns 33 in late September, will lead the Nets' Big 3, which includes James Harden and Kyrie Irving, as they make a push to -- if healthy -- compete for an NBA championship.

With Harden and Irving missing numerous playoff games this past season, Durant separated himself as the leader of the team in the postseason and was a shot with a toe on the line away from sending the Nets to the Eastern Conference Finals.

He'll now have a shot at bringing a title to Brooklyn for at least the next five years.
