The Knicks are expected to add longtime Utah Jazz executive Walt Perrin to the front office.

Perrin is currently the Vice President of Player Personnel for Utah, where he has spent the past 19 seasons, beginning in a lead scouting role.

In addition to Perrin, Knicks president Leon Rose has hired Brock Aller from the Cleveland Cavaliers in an executive vice president role that will cover a wide range of areas for the Knicks. Rose has also retained Scott Perry as his general manager for the 2020-21 season.

Perrin overlapped with Perry in Detroit. Perrin was the director of college scouting in Perry's first season with the Pistons.

In Perrin, Rose has brought in an executive with a strong scouting background. He was part of a Jazz organization that drafted (or traded for) Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, Gordon Hayward, and Paul Milsap, among many others.

In his role as VP of Player Personnel, Perrin had been responsible for evaluating players on all levels and assisting with potential player acquisitions.

It is unknown if the Perrin hire leads to turnover among the current Knicks front office. There is no salary cap for front-office jobs, but it seems reasonable to assume that Rose won't keep all of the executives/scouts that he inherited from ex-team president Steve Mills and Perry.

Opposing executives expect more changes coming in the front office and scouting departments as Rose continues to do his due diligence throughout the organization. Some executives and scouts brought in under Mills and Perry are under contract through the summer.

It's logical to see Rose's front office hires as pivotal to his success as team president. Rose doesn't have experience as an executive. He was a top player agent at CAA for more than two decades, but hadn't worked as an executive before accepting the job of president of basketball operations with the Knicks.

If and when the 2019-20 regular season ends, Rose and the Knicks will likely begin their head-coaching search. The club also has two first-round picks in the 2020 NBA Draft and plenty of cap flexibility this summer and in subsequent offseasons.

So Rose, Aller, Perry, Perrin & Co. have plenty of tools to start to reshape the roster the way Rose sees fit.

As far as other potential front office moves, Knicks front office member Allan Houston had been seen as someone who could remain with the organization under Rose.
