Immanuel Quickley is taking things "day-by-day" as he recovers from a hip pointer he suffered against the Pacers in his rookie debut Wednesday.

"I'm feeling ok, just day-to-day right now," Quickley said Thursday. "I got a hip pointer. Just tried to veer down on Myles Turner and he ended up hip checking me. It felt ok kind of at first and then I tried to run and it just didn't feel right. So I'm taking it day-by-day."

Quickley said that he doesn't know "right now" if he'll be able to play in the MSG home opener this weekend. He woke up "stiff" and has a bruise on his side.

"Coming in tomorrow for some treatment and just see how I feel. Hopefully it gets better soon," Quickley said. "Just taking care of what I need to take care off in order to get back on the court as soon as possible."

"Hopefully it won't be long," head coach Tom Thibodeau said on Quickley's return.

The No. 25 overall pick was having a solid debut until he had to exit, finishing the night with five points, one assist and one rebound in 12 minutes. He said he didn't feel much of a difference between his first real game and the preseason — where he balled out and gave Knicks fans some excitement out of the point gurd position for the first time in years.

"It felt great," Quickley said of his debut. "Every time I get a chance to go out on the court I try to play as hard as I can, so it didn't feel too different from preseason but it was good to just know I got my first game in. Hopefully I'm ready to get back out there as soon as I can."

The Knicks will tip off at Madison Square Garden for the first time in nine months or so on Saturday against the Philadelphia 76ers, so Quickley still has a couple more days to heal up.
