The Knicks shook off a slow start to rout the San Antonio Spurs, 114-89, in a Sunday matinee.

Here are the takeaways...

-- Mikal Bridges led the way for New York with 25 points and five steals on 10-17 shooting, followed closely by Jalen Brunson with 24 points and seven assists on 4-7 shooting from three.

-- Victor Wembanyama put on a highlight reel for the Knicks faithful, finishing with a 25-point, 13-rebound, 4-block line. Devin Vassell added 18 points and Stephon Castle finished with 13-4-4.

-- Karl-Anthony Towns had 12 points and 14 rebounds, Josh Hart had 10-10-7, and Mohamed Diawara pitched in 14 off the bench.

-- The Knicks got off to a woeful offensive start, due in large part to the Spurs starting Wembanyama on Hart and dramatically helping off him. New York did what it was supposed to, use Hart as a screener and feed him open threes to punish the defense, but he started 0-4 from the field.

-- San Antonio capitalized on a slow-to-start offense to go up 19-7 early, finding Wembanyama for a couple dunks to excite the MSG crowd.

-- Brunson then took over the last three minutes of the first. He hit a three, drew a flagrant on a second one, earned a crafty and-one and hit another three, capping an 11-2 personal and 15-2 team run to put the Knicks up 22-21 going into the second.

-- The Knicks continued off Brunson’s momentum, starting the second quarter on an 11-0 run to extend the total to 26-2. Bridges had a big steal and cutting slam as part of the barrage, putting the Knicks ahead double digits.

-- San Antonio eventually found some footing, and Wembanyama had a flurry late in the second. A ferocious slam, ridiculous reverse layup and three threatened to cut into the Knicks lead.

-- But OG Anunoby would respond for New York, with a couple of jumpers and a steal. He had nine points, as did Bridges through two quarters.

-- Brunson hit some tough shots down the stretch of the half, totaling 16 to give the Knicks a 51-41 lead at the break.

-- Bridges put on a three-point showcase, hitting four in the third quarter to carry the Knicks offense. Wembanyama kept pace for the Spurs, throwing down more highlight dunks in the process.

-- The Knicks maintained their lead, 80-69, going into the fourth. Diawara had another strong stint, hitting a three and blocking a shot on the other end early in the period.

-- Bridges kept up his excellent play with a steal and slam, fueling a 14-3 Knicks run to extend their lead to 21. Hart turned around his poor start with some timely second half buckets, and gobbled up one offensive rebound after another as New York searched for its dagger.

-- They found it by way of another Bridges steal, leading to a Landry Shamet slam. Shamet followed up with a three that blew the door open.

Bridges filled up the stat sheet and had a game-high rating of plus-21 throughout his 33 minutes on the court.
