Mets starter Clay Holmes said "It definitely felt good," after shutting down the Marlins and he credited pitching from both sides of the rubber, which Holmes feels can confuse the opposition. Pete Alonso called Holmes' effort "lights out... he really stepped up." Alonso meanwhile continued  his career-long assault on Marlins pitching, ripping an RBI double in the first inning and solo bast in the third.
