  • The Mets are set to play their sixth doubleheader of the season today, and have now played 29 double dips since 2021 -- more than any other team in the majors
  • The 2023 Mets are seeking to become the seventh team in franchise history with two players with 100 or more RBI. Francisco Lindor has 96 RBI, while Pete Alonso has recorded 117. The pair both recorded 100 RBI in 2022. 
  • Alonso is three RBI away from 500 for his career, and would become the tenth player in Mets history to record 500 RBI 
  • The Mets lead the major leagues with a 89.2 percent success rate in stolen bases this season (116 stolen bases out of 130 attempts), as it's the highest success rate in franchise history. The previous high was 82.3 percent in 2004

Who is starting for the Mets?

Tylor Megillwho is 8-8 with a 4.92 ERA, looks to finish the season strong with his second straight start against the Phillies. 

Last time on Sept. 22, Megill allowed three runs on five hits over six innings of work. He struck out six Phillies and walked one, en route to a no-decision in the extra-innings loss.

The right-hander is 2-2 over his last seven starts, pitching to a 3.35 ERA over 37.2 IP with a 1.46 WHIP and 34 strikeouts.

Who is starting for the Phillies?

Taijuan Walker, who is 15-5 with a 4.35 ERA, goes for his first win since Sept. 4 after three straight no-decisions.

Walker allowed two runs on five hits over six innings last time out on Sept. 22 against his former team. The 31-year-old struck out four and walked just one in the no-decision.

As of late, Walker is 2-1 over his last seven starts with a 5.54 ERA over 39.0 IP with a 1.51 WHIP and 31 strikeouts.

Upcoming schedule

The Mets and Phillies will play Game 2 of the doubleheader immediately following the conclusion of Game 1.

Jose Quintana (3-6, 3.39 ERA) gets the start for New York, while Philadelphia has yet to announce a starting pitcher.
