Here's what's true about the Mets and Robinson Cano/Edwin Diaz trade talks as of Thursday night:

  • Though the deal is not yet official, the trade on the table is Cano/Diaz for Jay Bruce, Anthony Swarzak, Jarred Kelenic, Gerson Bautista and Justin Dunn. The Mets are keeping Jeff McNeil out of the deal as of now. It is unclear how much money, if any, would be exchanged.
  • Lots of momentum surround these discussions, but people involved say a trade will not get done by tonight.
  • This does not necessarily mean that any of these players will be traded. These discussions are fluid, and another twist or two could still be in the works.
  • The teams have also talked about deal involving only Cano to the Mets, and only Diaz to Mets.
  • The Mariners are still talking to other teams regarding both Cano and Diaz.

Momentum on this deal continues to build by the hour.
