Nets head coach Steve Nash told reporters Tuesday that Ben Simmons has been cleared for contact.

Nash added that he worked in a 4-on-4 drill and all went well.

SNY's Ian Begley had sources say that some Nets players who have seen Simmons working out believe he can make his season debut during this playoff series against the Boston Celtics.

Simmons has been running and shooting in practice without pain, which clearly elevated him along his rehab process that includes the 4-on-4 workout.

Begley reported earlier that "optimism" surrounds a potential Simmons return. We'll see if that continues moving forward as he checks off the necessary boxes.

Brooklyn fell to Boston in Game 1 of the series on a buzzer beater, 115-114. Game 2 will take place on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
