Harden understands that the Nets have a roster filled with players that can score, defend, and do all the little things that a team needs to succeed. He also would go on to talk about the energy he felt on the court when sharing the ball.
"We have some special talent in this locker room," Harden said. "Very versatile shooters, playmakers, defenders, a little bit of everything. That's what you're going to need especially when it come postseason. Obviously, we haven't built as much chemistry as we'd like. But that first game it felt good to be out there on the court again, giving guys confidence, giving guys energy. That's what it's gonna throughout the course of the year, and once you build that up, guys believe in each other, and that's pretty scary."
"Whoever has the hot hand, that's who deserves the ball," Harden said. The basketball finds energy, it finds people with good energy, good spirit. That's what I tried to bring to the game tonight."
After nine seasons in Houston, Harden embarks on a new journey with the Nets. The veteran guard is excited for what's to come, and knows that being himself will make it all easier.
"It was real unbelievable," Harden said. "I hope you can tell with my smile and my play. Just excited. I'm excited for the opportunity. This is an unbelievable organization from top to bottom. For me, all I have to do is just go out there and be the best James Harden I can be, and good things will happen."
The Nets are still waiting for Kyrie Irving to return to the team, and Harden is definitely excited to play with his new teammate.
"I'm so excited for Ky to get back," Harden said. "He's a key piece to what we're trying to do. The chemistry, the sooner we can build that, the sooner we can be on the court together, it's gonna be scary hours."
