Nets' Kevin Durant, Ben Simmons ruled out for Saturday's game vs. Bucks

The Nets are looking to get healthy as soon as possible, but it looks like the team will remain without their best player for at least one more game.

Brooklyn announced Friday that Kevin Durant will miss Saturday’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks because of his MCL sprain. Durant will miss his 19th consecutive game after injuring his knee on Jan. 15.

The Nets also announced that newly-acquired guard/forward Ben Simmons will also miss Saturday’s game as he ramps up to get into playing shape. Simmons hasn’t played a game since last year’s playoffs and didn’t play for the Philadelphia 76ers this season after a highly-publicized rift between the All-Star and his former team.

Coach Steve Nash revealed this week that there was a possibility that Durant could play Saturday and gave a bit of a timetable.

“I’m sure it’s possible [Durant plays Saturday] but for me it’s probably in the next three games more likely than Saturday,” Nash said.

Nash went on to say that Durant seems closer to playing than Simmons.

The Nets started the second half of the season with a 129-106 loss to the Boston Celtics on Thursday night. Brooklyn is 5-15 in their last 20 games and sit as the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference. With a tough slate of games coming up, and a limited number of games to get everyone playing together, the Nets need their top players on the court before the playoffs begin or they may not make the postseason.

On the bright side, the Nets announced that guard Goran Dragic is probable to play against the Bucks. The 35-year-old was acquired this week after being bought out of his contract by the San Antonio Spurs. Dragic has played in just five games.

Brooklyn travels to Milwaukee to take on the Bucks on Saturday starting at 8:30 p.m.
