On the day James Harden was traded to Philadelphia for a package centered around Ben Simmons, Harden’s former teammate Kevin Durant had to select his team for the upcoming All-Star Game on the national stage.
And it did not disappoint.
To kick things off, Durant was asked by the TNT crew to offer his thoughts on the trade.
“I’m excited for our team, looking forward to finishing the season out with this new group and these new players. The playoffs are right around the corner, so we’ve got to fast track to get used to each other, but I’m excited. I think everybody got what they wanted."
Charles Barkley also asked Durant about dealing with all of the drama the Nets have had come their way this season, to which Durant simply responded "I love my brothers regardless."

As Durant and LeBron James picked their respective teams, the names of the available reserves began to whittle down. Eventually, the only two players remaining to be drafted were Harden and Utah’s Rudy Gobert.
And with Durant on the clock, he chose Gobert, leaving Harden to James’ team.

James then asked if Harden was healthy, as he’s missed three straight games with left hamstring tightness.
“He just got traded, he’s healthy now,” Barkley weighed in, as Durant couldn’t help but crack a smile and shake his head.
“is James healthy?”

The 2022 NBA All-Star Game in Cleveland is set for Sunday, Feb. 20.
Durant wouldn’t offer any insight as to whether or not he’d play in the game – as he’s been dealing with a left MCL strain – but it will be a chance for Harden and Durant to reunite during the festivities.
The real date to mark is Thursday, March 10, when the Nets travel to Philadelphia. By then, Durant will likely be healthy enough to play, meaning fans will get a first look at Durant and Kyrie Irving (and possibly Simmons) to face Harden, Joel Embiid and the Sixers.
