Durant was superb on Tuesday night, leading the way for Brooklyn with 34 points, 13 assists, and nine rebounds, shooting 12-of-18 overall and 4-of-7 from beyond the arc, carrying the Kyrie Irving-less Nets to a comeback victory over the Nuggets.
In many ways, it was a vintage Durant performance. But the superstar said after the game that he’s not putting much stock into whether or not he feels like he’s truly “back,” and is just happy that he’s healthy enough to be playing at this level.
“I feel like I’ve been in a good groove and knocking down shots. I mean, I feel good,” Durant said. “I can’t really pinpoint and tell you I’m 'back' or if I’ve had one of those 'I’m back' moments, but I just feel good and healthy, and glad I was able to get through this game tonight playing 36 minutes and 38 minutes the last game. I feel like my health is good, and that’s the most important thing for me. That’s the only thing I’m focusing on.”
Of course, plans often change and there’s always a chance the Nets could check in on Durant on Wednesday and deem it’s better if he sits against the Knicks.
But as of now, it sounds like Durant will be a go for what should be a fun game at The Garden.
