The Nets and power forward Markieff Morris have agreed to a one-year deal, as Shams Charania of The Athletic reported.
Morris played in 17 games last season with the Miami Heat after getting injured in November and returning in March, missing 58 games.
In his only season in Miami, the 32-year-old averaged 7.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 17.5 minutes per game while having career-bests in two-point field goal percentage (54.7 percent) and free throw percentage (88.9 percent). Overall, his 47.4 field goal percentage was the third-best of his career.
During his 14-year career, Morris has averaged 10.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game while shooting 44.6 percent from the field.
Prior to playing with the Heat, the Philadelphia native played with the Los Angeles Lakers, Detroit Pistons, Oklahoma City Thunder, Washington Wizards, and Phoenix Suns, where he started his career after being selected 13th overall in the 2011 NBA Draft.
A pick later, the Houston Rockets selected Morris’ twin brother, Marcus Morris. The two of them played together at Kansas and with the Suns for three seasons.
Morris brings some championship pedigree to Brooklyn after winning the title in 2020 with the Lakers.
