Nets' Spencer Dinwiddie jabs at Knicks for landing eighth overall pick in 2020 NBA Draft: 'L.O.L.'

Brooklyn guard has never shied away from criticizing Knicks

After the Knicks fell back to the eighth overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft lottery (with both Chicago and Charlotte jumping ahead of them), reaction began pouring in on social media from fans and players alike.

Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie tweeted out a thread of his thoughts regarding the draft order, and when he got to the Knicks, he typed out just three letters: “L.O.L.”

He then followed up in a second tweet by saying “8 as my number so I’ll cap my analysis there lol.”

The 27-year-old point guard, who opted out of the 2020 NBA restart in Orlando after testing positive for coronavirus multiple times during the league’s hiatus, has repeatedly been critical of the Knicks in the past. Earlier in the year, Feb. 15 at All-Star Weekend in Chicago, Dinwiddie was asked if he thought the Knicks would improve next season.

"Probably not," Dinwiddie said, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News. "They'll probably have a high draft pick. Unless they do a trade or via free agency, which I don't know if this free agency class is that spectacular, they're probably not going to be that good."

Dinwiddie averaged a career-best 20.6 points per game in 2019-20, starting 49 games, mostly in place of the oft-injured Kyrie Irving. Dinwiddie also played a career-high 31.2 minutes per game while averaging 6.8 assists per contest.
