Logan Ryan is a best-available option still out there on the free-agent market, and he wants to play his eighth NFL season in 2020. However, the former New England Patriots (2013-16) and Tennessee Titans (2017-19) cornerback wants to be paid and played accordingly -- at safety.

"I mean, look at the numbers ... (more than) a hundred tackles, four sacks, four forced fumbles, the pass breakups, the INTs -- I just feel like that's not really possible too much at just playing corner," Ryan said Thurday on NFL Network's Good Morning Football.

"So could the team move me around a lot? Could I be in the box a lot? I was a versatile player, a matchup guy, similar to a (Kansas City Chiefs strong safety) Tyrann Mathieu, maybe a (Denver Broncos free safety) Justin Simmons. I feel like that was more the position I was playing last year for (the Titans) as opposed to a true, traditional corner.

"So it's hard to compare me to that (a cornerback). ... I'm playing safety in all those (interception highlight) clips. ... So clearly, it's a little gray area. I think I'm a little bit of an outlier when it comes to corner or safety. But just all those highlights you showed, they're all safety highlights."

Ryan, 29, recorded a personal-best season with the Titans in 2019. The 5-foot-11, 195-pounder totaled 73 tackles (four for loss), 4 1/2 sacks (eight quarterback hits), four interceptions and a career-high 18 pass breakups and four forced fumbles while starting all 16 games.

The Jets were reportedly interested in Ryan, a former Rutgers star from 2010-12, but nothing materialized. With a hit to the secondary, the Giants could look at Ryan. The Berlin, N.J., native continues to navigate uncharted waters during an unprecedented offseason amid the coronavirus pandemic but remains hopeful of signing with a team for the fall.

"I would sign today, trust me," Ryan said. "If the right opportunity came across the table, I would sign today. So I'm a football player. I love playing ball. I'm training just as hard as anyone's training in this league. Trust me. If you ask anybody that knows me in this league, any of my peers, they know how hard I worked, how much I studied the game at multiple positions.

"So I'm definitely in shape and ready to play, but this is a weird year for everybody. And just a week ago, we found out what the rules for the season (are) -- opting out and not, and what that would look like. And respecting everyone's decision with that, I have to think what's best for my family and myself -- but that is to play this year and that is to figure out the best place to go and best fit.

"And obviously, my agent's going to handle the financial side of things if there's something there. But at the same time, I'm just trying to get viewed and be on a team that views my skill set and everything I can do to the table."
