Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson's injury sustained in Sunday's 112-99 win over the Sacramento Kings is a sprained right ankle, New York head coach Tom Thibodeau told reporters after the game.
"Just a sprain," Thibodeau said of Brunson's ankle. "We'll see how he feels (Monday)."
Originally, the Knicks ruled Brunson out with a sore right foot.
"I didn't get a chance to look at it, but that's what the medical (staff) sent back," Thibodeau said.
Brunson, who scored 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting while adding three rebounds and three assists in 27 minutes, did not return after the fourth quarter's 9:03 mark. He landed awkwardly on his right foot.
"To be totally honest, see where he is (Monday) ... and I'll get a further update from the medical (staff) when I get back in the locker room," Thibodeau said.
Through 27 contests, Brunson is averaging 20.1 points, 6.3 assists, and 3.3 rebounds in 37.1 minutes per game.
The Knicks (14-13) have won four in a row and are back above the .500 mark for the first time since improving to 8-7 with a 106-103 victory at the Denver Nuggets on Nov. 16.
