Mets rookie Pete Alonso earned nearly double what he makes over the course of the entire season by winning the Home Run Derby.

Alonso topped Blue Jays rookie sensation Vlad Guerrero Jr. 23-22 in the final round to win the Home Run Derby and its $1 million prize.

Keep in mind, the 24-year-old Alonso makes $555,000, the league minimum. So what will he do with the money?

Alonso said he is donating 5 percent of his winnings to the Wounded Warrior Project and another 5 percent to Tunnel To Towers.

"That's what I want to do," Alonso said in May. "I feel really lucky and I feel like all of us are, because without brave men and women who have served this country, we wouldn't be able to do what we do. This sport probably wouldn't exist. We wouldn't have the freedom to do what we do. It's a high price to pay. I just want to recognize all the good things those men and women do for this country."

Alonso's paternal grandfather served in the Army during World War II and his maternal grandfather served in the Marines during the Korean War.
