Deivi Garcia's first taste of life with the Yankees is coming to an end. But before he takes the mound for Saturday's 1:05 p.m. game against the Miami Marlins at Yankee Stadium, his most recent start came back into focus.

This past Saturday's 10-2 loss to the Red Sox in Fenway Park in Boston saw Garcia get roughed up for a first time, surrendering six runs (all earned) on eight hits (two homers) while striking out two and walking one in three innings.

Garcia, who threw 76 pitches (53 strikes), took the experience as a lesson. He emerged from his outing with one main takeaway.

"How to put together a plan and how important it is to execute certain pitches in certain situations, and how to find a way to do that -- I think that was the biggest lesson I learned from that outing in Boston," Garcia said through an interpreter.

Until then, Garcia (2-2, 4.88 ERA) was cruising as a starter for the Yankees. After a 6-3 loss to the Orioles at Camden Yards in Baltimore Sep. 4, Garcia dazzled with a pair of lights-out performances against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Sept. 9 (7-2) and 15 (20-6), Garcia led the Yankees to wins when he combined for 14 innings across a couple of seven-frame starts. His combined numbers included 11 hits (three homers) on five runs (all earned) with 12 strikeouts to two walks.

Garcia's statistics reflected his MLB debut Aug. 30, when he turned heads in a no-decision result against the Mets at Citi Field. In six innings, Garcia yielded one run on four hits, striking out six and walking none.

"It has been a great learning experience for me," Garcia said through an interpreter. "Every day, there's an opportunity to keep learning and keep expanding as a player. And to be here, to learn from everything going on here, it's a blessing, you know? And thank God for that blessing."

Where Garcia fits on a postseason roster with the Yankees remains to be seen. But his time around the team for these past two months has made a lasting impression.

"Being around all the guys here, one of the things I can mention is the way they carry themselves outside of the field -- and professionalism that they show," Garcia said through an interpreter. "And in addition, the kind of way they go about their business on the field, their daily routines and how they manage different situations -- situations that are not easy. And they're able to manage with a sense of professionalism. It's impressive. It's a way that being here with this team just allows you to expand and take that with you, and build upon."
