Yankees president Randy Levine is a "top contender" to be Donald Trump's next chief of staff, according to a report from MSNBC on Monday morning.

Levine, 63, has served as the club's president since 2000. Levine is also an American attorney and a member of the New York Bar Association. He earned a Bachelors degree from George Washington University in 1977, and a J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law in 1980.

According to MSNBC, Levine was listed as a potential candidate to take the job of Trump's next chief of staff. Other candidates in the report to be Trump's third chief of staff in the last two years include Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., OMB Director Mick Mulvaney, 2016 Deputy Campaign Manager David Bossie, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker.

Levine, a longtime Trump backer per MSNBC, would join New York Jets owner Woody Johnson as part of the Trump administration. Johnson, 71, began a three-year stint as the Trump-selected U.S. Ambassador to the UK in August 2017.

The Yankees' president responded to the chief of staff rumors Monday afternoon. Levine said to Fox Fews: "No one's asked me about [being White House] chief of staff. I have great respect for the President, but I'm very happy being president of the Yankees."
