The Yankees are still in play to bring free agent reliever Zach Britton back to the Bronx, according to Marc Carig of The Athletic.

As the Yankees continue to move towards a deal with free agent starter J.A. Happ, GM Brian Cashman is considering inking Britton to a new contract after acquiring the lefty from the Orioles before the 2018 trade deadline.

The 30-year-old Britton had a 2.88 ERA (4.08 FIP) with a 1.160 WHIP in 25 regular season appearances out of the Yankee bullpen.

As with the Happ sweepstakes, the Phillies have also emerged as strong competition for the Yankees. Philadelphia is "very aggressive" on Britton, according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal, while other teams are in the mix.

Britton, however, is far from the only Yankee bullpen target. On Tuesday, Cashman reportedly met with representatives for free agent Adam Ottavino, who is coming off a breakout season with the Rockies.

The Yankees could also attempt to re-sign David Robertson and bring back Andrew Miller, with Joakim Soria also a possibility to shore up the bullpen.
