The New Jersey Devils host the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday at Prudential Center at 7 p.m. ET.

According to STATS:

  • The Jets won the first matchup between these teams this season. A win tonight would give Winnipeg a sweep of the season series for just the third time in franchise history (first two were 2005-06 as the Thrashers and 2013-14 as the Jets).

The Devils have re-assigned forwards Blake Coleman, Rod Pelley, and Blake Pietila, along with defenders Brandon Gormley, Vojtech Mozik, and Karl Stollery to the Albany Devils of the AHL, the team announced Tuesday morning

The six players were cut over the weekend during the team's first round of roster cuts.

The Devils currently have 31 players in training camp, and will need to cut several more before next Thursday's season opener against the Panthers.

College hockey tournaments?are in full swing, which means there are prospects to keep our eyes on.

  • Devils' prospect Derek Rodwell scored a goal and was a plus-1 in the Fighting Sioux's 5-3, best-of-three contest against Michigan Tech.
  • Blake Pietila, a forward for Tech, was a minus-3 in that same contest.
  • Blake Coleman, for Miami University, had a tough night, finishing minus-1 in the Redhawks' 3-0 loss to Michigan State in the CCHA quarterfinals.
  • Michigan defender Jon Merrill was a plus-1 in Michigan's 4-3 win over Western Michigan Friday night in the CCHA Quarters.
Last week, we talked about Scott Wedgewood's future prospects.

The Devils could use a goal scorer like Reid Boucher, especially the way he's playing right now.

The Sarnia Sting forward -- and Devils draft prospect -- scored six goals last week, four of which came in Sarnia's 13-3 victory over the Erie Otters last Thursday.

Boucher is up to 57 goals -- 15 better than Plymouth's Vincent Trocheck. The 19-year old's 85 points is good for fifth in the OHL. He's 13 points behind Nick Cousins.
