It's not too often that the Islanders receive praise from any national media outlet, especially when it comes to their offseason moves.

Following their 2013 playoff run, the Islanders had one of their least impressive offseasons they have had in quite some time. Believing that they had the talent already on the roster, general manager Garth Snow signed Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Peter Regin as the Islanders "major" free agency moves. As everyone knows, that did not work and Regin and Bouchard were shipped off to the Chicago Blackhawks in early February.

It would seem Snow learned from that experience and used the 2014 offseason to fill some holes that were obvious through the prior campaign. But were the moves enough to make the Islanders a playoff team in 2014? Some in the national hockey media say yes.

The Bleacher Report has posted an article on 4 moves the Devils should make. Definitely give this a read. But here is my opinion of each move.

1. Keep Zach Parise- Well yes this is a 100% must for the Devils. If the Devils want to remain a competitive team in the future they are going to need Zach Parise. I believe at this point its a 50/50 shot for Parise. The only thing that bothers me is that the Devils have not started contract talks with Parise but maybe they are waiting until the end of the season to avoid distraction. But Parise makes everyone around him play better and he is a great leader. He should get paid what he wants and I think in a short time he will get a chance for his ring.

Bleacher Report comprised a list of reasons why the Devils should bench Martin Brodeur. The reasons are: Age, Goals Against Average, Keith Kinkaid, Johan Hedberg and finally One More For Marty.

Yes it is a know fact that Brodeur is one of the older goaltenders in the league and some of his play has showed it. But I think that he is still a competitive enough goaltender to play. Maybe he shouldn't be playing as much as he is but he should not be replaced by any means.

The Bleacher Report has an article on how the next three games for the Devils can be "dangerous". The next three games start off with a home game against the Columbus Blue Jackets and then a home and home series with the Islanders.

Both teams are at the bottom of each conference. If the Devils can get back to how they have been playing when their road trip started, they should have no problem getting at least 5 points out of 6 points.
