In a post to twitter, Larry Brooks says that Brad Richards is thinking about his options in regards to playing in Europe during the lockout.

Brooks notes that Richards isn't currently in discussions with any clubs.

Richards has previously said that he won't make any decision until around Christmas time.

In a 2004 issue of ESPN the Magazine, Rachel Nichols followed Brad Richards and Vinny Lecavalier to Kazan in Russia to see how they were doing while playing in Russia during the lockout.

Richards often joked about leaving Kazan and returning to North America before suffering a sports hernia in December that ended his season.

Lecavalier and Richards both stressed how tough it was to play for a coach and team that only spoke minimal English.

In the NY Post, Larry Brooks spoke with Brad Richards who said that he plans to spend the fall in North America skating and training and not going to Europe.

Richards said that he won't think of making any move until at least Christmas.

Brooks notes that between 10 and 15 Rangers have been skating at the training center this week, and John Tortorella preached to Richards and Ryan Callahan how necessary structure and conditioning is during the lockout.

According to Pierre LeBrun at ESPN.com, Brad Richards said that as of right now he isn't planning to go to Europe and play during the lockout.

Richards noted that he wants to focus on his workouts over here but LeBrun writes that as the lockout drags on, things could change for Richards.

In 2004-05 Richards played seven games in Russia before suffering an injury.

During the lockout of 2004-05, Brad Richards signed on to play in Russia with Ak Bars Kazan but do to a Sports Hernia injury, he was only to play seven games.

In an article from January 10, 2005, Michael Farber of Sports Illustrated writes about how Richards, Vinny Lecavalier and some other NHL players went to play for Ak Bars Kazan during the 04-05 lockout.

Farber writes "Lecavalier and Richards were on their way to a Yankees playoff game against the Red Sox in the Bronx, guests of George Steinbrenner, when reports on Ak Bars from two NHL scouts arrived via e-mail on Richards's BlackBerry. One was wildly positive. Good news from a far place. "
