Brett Howden said that being cut by Team Canada's World Junior team, prior to the 2017 tournament, helped him become the player that he is now. (NY Post)

Howden had been a first round pick of Tampa Bay in 2016 and said that being cut opened his eyes to show him that "nothing's given to you and you gotta work for what you get." (NY Post)

Rangers assistant GM Chris Drury said that the organization's priorities moving forward are to add "young, competitive players with speed and skill and 'a premium on high character.'"

When Jeff Gorton and Glen Sather wrote a letter to the fans announcing that the team was intending to sell at the deadline, they said that their focus was going to be "adding young, competitive players that combine speed, skill and character."

When Gorton and Sather met with the media following the release of the letter, Gorton said "we want fast players, character players, guys we can build our team around. That is what we will be looking for."

Rangers prospect Brett Howden scored the game winning goal for Moose Jaw last night in the WHL playoffs.

Howden has 10 points in 10 playoffs games this season and had 24 goals and 51 assists in 49 games during the regular season.
