Asked about the Jason Pierre-Paul situation, the two-time Super Bowl champion said the Giants need to proceed ... without him.
[sny-box]?I think the most disturbing aspect of it is ? in all my years of being around the team, they?ve had some bad losses...They?ve had some highs and lows, and some good teams and bad teams. But I don?t think I?ve ever seen a team just not show emotion as they were just getting pummeled ? I don?t advocate fighting, but show some emotion. Show that you care that your quarterback was sacked six times in the first quarter.?
They don?t like themselves. That?s what it really comes down to. They don?t like each other. They?re not willing to fight for each other. When you have a premier quarterback in this league, and you don?t have enough self-respect ? not for him, but for yourself ? to protect him to do your?job, I think it speaks volumes. I think these guys really do need to all stand in (front of) the mirror, and it?s gut-check time.?

The lack of focus or the desire to play to the final whistle has plagued this team all year. ?? Perry Fewell will need a great explanation why Justin Tuck, Osi Umenyiora and Chris Canty were dropping in pass coverage in the 4th quarter.?? Tuck has no business covering one of the NFC's best tight ends.? Tuck, Canty and Osi are down hill players.?? They should not be asked to drop...they are not stand up linebackers regardless of how Fewell has them standing before the snap.
Can anyone say...PREVENT!

If you use WFAN in New York as a barometer...the on air hosts and the PD have decided that baseball is more important.?? Losing Cliff Lee will dominate sports talk radio in the New York market up until the talking heads are forced to discuss Giants vs. Eagles this upcoming Sunday.? This morning I even heard one host ask a caller how he could possibly stay awake during last nights Giants game.

The New York Times continues the discussion about the future of Mathias Kiwanuka:?When the Giants placed Mathias Kiwanuka on injured reserve Thursday with a herniated disk in his neck, General Manager Jerry Reese and Coach Tom Coughlin each expressed hope that Kiwanuka would be healthy in 2011. Although Kiwanuka is the team?s most versatile defensive player, his contract expires at the end of the season, and the team is already stocked with defensive ends. And while the Giants will weigh their options, it seems questionable that they would let Kiwanuka walk. Read more ...
According to the Times' Fifth Down Blog, Carl Banks says he's impressed?with the Giants' leadership: When fans, commentators and former players were criticizing the Giants for a lack of leadership early this season, another former Giant thought the team had found two players to show them how to win. ?When Antonio Pierce and Michael Strahan left, it did leave a void,? said Carl Banks, who recently held a reception to launch his sports fashion line, The NFL Collection: By Carl Banks, G-III Apparel, at Lord & Taylor in Manhattan. ?You had talented football players who were just happy to be good football players. Then Antrel Rolle and Keith Bulluck came over and stepped up and I feel they made a difference.? Read more ...

For my first post I thought I would try to establish a rubric, so to speak, for my own dissatisfaction with the MLB situation.? I know it seems sometimes that I (Igs) am only seeing this thing from the ?glass half empty? perspective, but in truth there are a number of important angles that inform my reservations:
How close are the Giants?
