Year after year, young prospects head to the D-League following NBA training camp in an effort to develop notoriety for themselves. In turn, their minor league progress over the course of a basketball season adds tremendous credibility to their resume. With that in mind, players don't stick around for very long, even if an NBA deal doesn't come their way. The likes of Jimmer Fredette, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Travis Trice, Darion Atkins, and others have all flocked overseas this year following positive campaigns in Westchester.Out with the old, and in with the new.One way for the Knicks to replenish its D-League talent pool is through its training camp cuts. Both Cleanthony Early and Damien Ingles are set to be become full-time minor leaguers following time as D-League assignees last season. If the Knicks have their way, Chasson Randle will also forgo any international offers and head to Westchester as he heals from an orbital injury. Given the type of prowess he showed in training camp, he figures not to be there very long. The Knicks' efforts to build up its minor league squad continued Sunday with five new selections in the D-League Draft. While some figure to simply be training camp bodies, there are still a few intriguing names to recognize.

After concluding the preseason with a 4-2 record, the Knicks will look to carry similar momentum with them as the regular campaign begins. They'll have to do so with fewer men, however, as roster cuts are now looming in the days that follow.Over the course of the offseason, the Knicks slowly but surely filled out their team. Early on, it appeared as though players like Marshall Plumlee and Maurice Ndour were prematurely given fully guaranteed deals. Further questions arose when Lou Amundson was signed to a guaranteed pact last month. This gave New York fifteen guaranteed deals, leaving little room for young guns on training camp deals to legitimately challenge for spots. At least, that's what many could have concluded. Instead, both Chasson Randle and Ron Baker impressed and proved to be quite valuable with the Knicks already spread thinly at point guard. After an interesting preseason, there's sure to be a shake up on this roster.

Despite spending all of the 2014-15 season with the Knicks, Travis Wear recently signed a training camp deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, with the idea that he'll begin the season with their D-League affiliate. Such a concept is one New York should carry out with Cleanthony Early.

After playing sparingly in his first two pro seasons (especially his sophomore campaign), it's safe to say that opportunity has evaded Early more often than not. While the shooting incident derailed his hopes of getting into a rhythm, it's unknown if a consistent role would have been there for Early as the season progressed anyway.

By how I've learned Phil Jackson works, anything can happen on draft day, and the New York Knicks could look to deal further after a blockbuster trade that sent former No. 1 pick Derrick Rose to New York and Robin Lopez, Jose Calderon and Jerian Grant to the Chicago Bulls.

The buzz surrounding several draft prospects, like Brandon Ingram, Jamal Murray and Domantas Sabonis, at Wednesday's NBA Cares event at Basketball City, was that Jackson trading for Rose was a great move.

A man has been arrested in connection to last year's shooting of Knicks F Cleanthony Early, reports John Marzulli of the Daily News.

Delvon Dowling was arraigned on Saturday in Brooklyn after admitting on Friday that he had been part of the plot to rob Early.

However, Dowling said he was in a getaway car and that he did not shoot Early.

New York Knicks head coach Derek Fisher and forward Carmelo Anthony spoke with the media regarding the Cleanthony Early shooting incident that occurred on Wednesday morning.

Early was shot in his right kneecap outside a strip club in Queens before being robbed of his jewelry and possessions. His injuries aren't believed to be life threatening and is in stable condition at Elmhurst Hospital (Dec. 30).

Fisher felt it was too soon to elaborate on what his players should be doing off the court.

Playing in his second D-League game of the season, Cleanthony Early failed to follow up on many of the things that made his debut so promising.

As Westchester lost its first game of the season, the young gun struggled to adjust to contact. The opposing defense knew exactly how to cover him, smothering him with double-teams, limiting his spacing, and really putting the pressure on him around the rim.

Clearly flustered, Early had difficulty finishing at the basket. He was encouraged by the coaching staff and his teammates alike to keep being aggressive, which he was. The forward continued attacking the basket. That said, even as he drew fouls upon absorbing contact, Early didn't cash in at the charity stripe, sinking only 5-of-10.

The Knicks have assigned F Cleanthony Early to Westchester of the D-League, the team announced on Wednesday. He was sent there on Monday and played one game before being recalled.

Early recorded a double-double in his D-League game on Monday.

He is expected to be in uniform for Westchester for Wednesday morning's game, the Knicks said.

Early has played in just six games for the Knicks so far this season.

The New York Knicks have recalled F Cleanthony Early from their D-League affiliate in Westchester after only one day (Knicks, Dec. 1).

Early, 24, was reassigned to Westchester on Nov. 30. In his only game played on Monday night, Early recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and pulling down 13 rebounds.

The Knicks selected Early in the second round with the 34th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.

Arguably overshadowed by Jimmer Fredette and his 37-point NBA D-League debut, Cleanthony Early still did some nice things in the Westchester Knicks' victory while on assignment on Monday night.

Playing second-fiddle, the forward still managed to log 19 points and 13 rebounds. In addition to simply getting more court time, the most important thing for Early is to be aggressive and gain more confidence. As a rookie, Early was criticized for not being a very efficient shooter. But his success will come down to better decision-making and improved instincts as he matures more than anything. During NBA Summer League this past July, Early was taking higher percentage shots and attacking the basket more often.
