UConn issued a clarification of its APR status after an Associated Press reported on Monday insinuated that the school could be subject to an APR ban for the 2015 NCAA tournament.

The story in question ran on Monday on the Associated Press wire.

UConn released a statement clarifying that the school is in no danger of missing the 2015 tournament. UConn, of course, missed last season's tourney becoming one of the first casualties of the APR penalty. UConn coach Kevin Ollie also will not receive any of his performance bonuses if the Huskies' APR doesn't meet standards.

Jason Kidd is keeping it simple, and his players are very happy.

Stefan Bondy reports that Kidd has simplified both the offensive and defensive schemes, and his players are happy and thriving. Deron Williams told Bondy that Kidd gets his points across quickly, while also mentioning it might have been best for Kidd to divorce himself of Lawrence Frank:

[sny-box]?I mean, Lawrence was always kind of the defensive guy, so he was talking on defense and he was definitely long-winded when it came to teaching, so I definitely think it?s helped [that Frank is no longer around] We?re a veteran group, so we get things pretty easily. So at times when you?re just talking and you?re not practicing, it gets a little lengthy. But I think J-Kidd does a good job of getting his points across quick and easy and then we move on.?[/sny-box]

With all the player personnel change going on in Newark, it?s easy to forget about the head coach.? Peter DeBoer is entering his third season at the helm of the New Jersey Devils.? His first season was a major success; taking NJ to the Stanley Cup Finals. ?His second campaign was a pretty big disappointment, especially considering how fast of a start they had.? Perhaps it?s a bit too early to discuss it, but it might be a conversation that?s not too far down the road depending on the club?s start; how much pressure is on Pete DeBoer in 2013-14?

Maybe it?s unfair to put last year?s collapse on DeBoer, but there?s no denying it happened on his watch, even if there was a 48-game season and injures to overcome.? In the middle of last year, I mentioned that DeBoer should be in NJ for a long time.? While I still believe he should, this is a big swing year for his job security with GM Lou Lamoriello and new ownership closely watching.

The major hype right now surrounding the Brooklyn Nets is their search for a new coach.

P.J. Carlesimo did an admirable job on an interim basis, but assuming he didn?t lead the Nets to the Eastern Conference finals, his fate was pretty much sealed long before his firing.

Owner Mikhail Prokhorov and general manager Billy King want to bring in their own guy, and that search is ongoing.

With the recent release of a few veteran players and the potential release of a few more, the Giants may be an overall young team other than the main core.

Tom Coughlin has transformed into a more laid-back coach over the past few years, since he was dealing mainly with the veteran rosters. This helped him gain the respect of his teams, resulting in two Super Bowl championships.

Earlier in Coughlin?s Giants? tenure, he was criticized for his stringent style, which rubbed many players the wrong way.

It's been fifteen years since the infamous "Latrell Sprewell incident" occurred and changed Brooklyn's interim coach P.J. Carlesimo's coaching career.? Carlesimo has made a few stops since the incident transpired ?and also won a few rings with the San Antonio Spurs as an assistant coach.

But being an NBA head coach is a special position and Carlesimo is trying to put the Golden Sate incident behind him once and for all.

P.J. Carlesimo is off to a 3-1 start as interim head coach of the Nets, including an improbable win against the NBA?s top team in the Oklahoma City Thunder. He'll look to make it 4-1 tonight when the Nets visit the Washington Wizards.

For Carlesimo, the win might have been a bit sweeter, since he was the first coach in the Thunder?s history. However, his tenure lasted only 13 games as he was fired after a 1-12 start.

Giants? secondary coach Peter Giunta addressed the media Tuesday to discuss the secondary?s performance from this past weekend?s game against the Bengals.

The obvious area of emphasis was the very first drive in which the Giants allowed Andy Dalton to hit A.J. Green on 56-yard touchdown pass in which the secondary looked completely confused.

Stevie Brown was supposed to slide over in coverage, but Corey Webster should have realized, according to Giunta, what was going on as the veteran guy.

Some postgame reactions by the Giants after their 24-17 opening night loss to the Dallas Cowboys:

"Take a bite out of humble pie is basically what it is. It brings you right back to earth. There won?t be any blowing smoke up their rear ends as far as that. Last year is last year and this year is this year. Every team is a new team, every year is a new year, we have our work cut out for us, it?s a great challenge for us now. I think?Michael Coe?injured a hamstring again, so there is another corner we?re staring at being down. But we?ve rubbed salt in it right now and I think that hopefully the competitive nature of our guys comes out and we come out swinging." - head coach Tom Coughlin on his postgame message to the team

"Just to be a little bit more crisp in what we are doing, what we are representing. Understand what is going to be thrown at us. Understand that we have to capture opportunities when they present themselves. And we will get better, we will get better. Practice will be a little bit more crisp, a little bit more focused, a little more sharp. You know, we?ll do that." - Safety Antrel Rolle on Coughlin's postgame message

Throughout the summer, New York Giants? head coach Tom Coughlin encouraged his team to ?Build A Bridge? to last year, when it was about being ?All In? and making sure to ?Finish.?

Forget finishing, the Giants (0-1) couldn?t even start well, while allowing their underdog and hated NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys (1-0) to waltz into MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford and walk away with a season-opening 24-17 upset victory.

Giants DC Perry Fewell is busy these days interviewing for the most of the remaining head coaching vacancies in the NFL. He has already wowed the Panthers and this weekend he met with Broncos owner Pat Bowlen and Denver's new football czar John Elway.

According to Paul Schwartz of the Post, Fewell had this to say yesterday about his meeting with the Broncos....

"Everything seemed like it was geared towards winning. Championships start at the top and it starts with Mr. Bowlen. He knows how to compete, and that makes it more fun for you as a coach. He understands competition and knows what it takes. It just trickles down the food chain. I see that in the Denver Broncos organization. I see that in how they play and how they've prepared and I want to be a part of something like that."
The way the situation is unfolding, it appears there could be a bidding war over Fewell's services.? A third team, the Cleveland Browns, run by Mike Holmgren, will interview Fewell this week.
