Deron Williams made his much anticipated return last night, and boy, it was like night and day watching this team play with him on and?off the floor.

The team seemed to have a focus and identity with him running the?show. The first half it was extremely evident as the Celtics ran out to a 14-5 lead and then it was like a light switch went on for Williams. He?started to run and get the Nets into early offense and they ran off a?30-10 run to go into half with a 56-47 lead.

That hasn't happened much this season, folks.

On Friday night, the Nets defeated the Washington Wizards by a final score of 95-78.

The pace slowed down considerably to start the second quarter, but Williams drained his eighth three of the half after reentering. He finally missed from beyond the arc but then started attacking the rim to pick up some points in the paint. He then hit his ninth three of the half to set a new NBA record for made three-pointers in a half, and he set a Nets? franchise record with 12 made field goals in a half. Deron Williams was once universally considered an elite point guard in the NBA.

It?s no wonder the Nets sacrificed a huge trade package to acquire him from the Utah Jazz and then signed him to a five-year, $98.7 million contract this past summer.
