The Jets' quarterback battle has been the most-watched aspect of training camp thus far. So, it's no surprise that Vegas has already put their odds on who will win the starting job when camp breaks.
At the moment, veteran QB Josh McCown leads the pack at -130 on the money line. Following McCown is rookie QB Sam Darnold, but not by much at +140.
As for Teddy Bridgewater, he is the longshot at +800 to win the starting role. However, Bridgewater is considered the backup on the Jets' unofficial depth chart with Darnold as the third stringer.
But Darnold is considered the future of the franchise, with the Jets taking him No. 3 overall this past April as they hope he is the man to free them from Quarterback Hell.
As SNY's Ralph Vacchiano has been reporting, Darnold does have a legitimate shot to start for the Jets Week 1. He has been impressive in his first few days at camp, and if he continues to show growth during practice and preseason games, Darnold could get the nod against in Detroit against the Lions on Sept. 10.
For now, though, Vegas is going with the safe bet and taking McCown, who had a career year for the Jets last season.
