Former Rangers assistant Daniel Lacroix, who just left the Rangers for Montreal, was a guest on Oilers Now on 630 CHED.
On AV and the Rangers, "Alain is a patient guy, he has been there and done that and is a smart coach and we went through some rough times at the start, we had a tough schedule, but we stayed the course and AV stayed the course with the players and game plan and it paid off. It took some time to get comfortable as a staff, it took some time for the players to get comfortable with a totally different coaching style but I thought one of his great strengths was his patience to go along with his teaching.
On Benoit Pouliot, "I have had the pleasure to work with Ben in Tampa and NY. He had a tough start to his season, like everyone, so when things don't go so well you need to look around and try to get more out of each and every player and that is an example of a player who Alain was patient with and put him in a winning situation with Brassard and finally Zuccarello and they had a good working chemistry together. Benny goes to the net pretty hard, he works extremely hard. Ben, per minutes played, he was actually our second leading hit getter. He is a physical guy and gets in on the forecheck and his teammates will get pucks because he uses his stick to get pucks. He has pretty good speed, a wicked shot, and he is a good guy to be around."
