The Giants seem pretty set at wide receiver, with Sterling Shepard, Golden Tate, and Darius Slayton all under contract for the 2020 season. But they're reportedly looking for more help.

According to Matt Lombardo of NJAM, the Giants are expected to pursue Chiefs WR Demarcus Robinson, who is set to hit free agency.

Robinson, 25, started 10 games for the Chiefs during the regular season in 2019, hauling in 32 catches for a career-high 449 yards and four touchdowns.

The Giants may be confident in their extremely young secondary, but GM Dave Gettleman should be looking around for a veteran cornerback to balance out that group heading into the new season.

And Giants WR Darius Slayton is trying to help him out.

Lions CB Darius Slay is in his final year with Detroit before coming a free agent in 2021, and he has made it quite clear that he wants to be the highest-paid corner in the league. Over the weekend, he responded to a suggestion from a Lions writer that said he would receive an extension that would pay out around $15-16 million per season -- that would make him the highest-paid.

Highlighted by quarterback Daniel Jones, plenty of rookies were impact players for the G-men last season.

For their efforts, Pro Football Focus tabbed the group the fourth-best rookie class in the NFL.

With the Eli Manning era officially over for the Giants, everything is now in the hands of quarterback Daniel Jones

Moving forward, Jones will have at least one go-to option in the coming years in a fellow rookie from 2019 in WR Darius Slayton

Speaking on the latest happenings with the Giants' quarterback room, the wideout expressed loads of confidence in his QB heading into the offseason.

Darius Slayton had exactly the same reaction as almost everyone else when he heard the Giants new head coach was going to be Joe Judge.

Who?

"Yeah, I had not heard of him prior to the Giants hiring him," Slayton told SNY in an interview on Thursday. "But you know he's coming from a really good organization. Everybody I've heard speak about him has glowing things to say about him, so I'm sure he'll be a good guy for the job."

The Giants' 2019 season didn't go to plan.

Despite a 4-12 overall record, there might've been one positive that came out of Blue Big's bad year. Plenty of young players got playing time, rookies specifically.

And the Giants' first-year pros used that valuable time well, according to Pro Football Focus

By winning a few games at the end of the season, the Giants almost certainly cost themselves a chance at drafting game-changing edge-rusher Chase Young.

But Big Blue is still in good position at No. 4 in the NFL Draft and should be able to come away with a cornerstone player.

Here's how the latest mocks see things shaking out...

There is no reason to believe that Pat Shurmur's fate at all hung in the balance on Sunday afternoon, that the game against the Eagles would be enough to sway his bosses in one way or the other. But if it was the last chance for Shurmur to make his case, or one last advertisement for him to stick around another season, it hardly was convincing.

Instead, the 34-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles was an advertisement for everything that plagued Shurmur's Giants over the last two years.

Pick your poison: An anemic offense, questionable play calling, a stunning under useof Saquon Barkley for most of the game. There was also some bad offensive line play, a complete lack of a pass rush, terrible tackling throughout the defense and miscommunications in the secondary.

It took until the end of a dismal and disappointing season, but Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley reminded everyone why the Giants' future is bright.

Both players looked as good as they ever have as they put on dazzling displays in the Giants' wild, 41-35 overtime win over the Washington Redskins. Jones, the rookie quarterback who missed the last two games with a sprained ankle, completed 28-of-42 passes for a career-high 352 yards and a career-best five touchdowns. And Barkley, in by far the finest game of his young career, rushed 22 times for 189 yards and caught four passes for 90 yards and scored twice, too.

For Jones, it was his third game of the season with at least four touchdown passes and fourth game with at least four touchdowns overall. And Barkley set his career best with 279 total yards.

The Giants were happy to snap their nine-game losing streak with Sunday's 36-20 win over the Miami Dolphins, but Week 15 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, meant more than just the final result.

Eli Manning made his second straight start in place of injured rookie Daniel Jones, who continues to recover from his sprained left ankle, and the veteran quarterback made the most of the opportunity.

In what was likely Manning's final home game with the Giants, he completed 20 of 28 passes (71.4 percent) for 283 yards and two touchdowns to three interceptions and led New York (3-11) past the Dolphins (3-11) 36-20.

With rookie quarterback Daniel Jones out with an ankle injury for the second straight week, Eli Manning got the start in what could be his final game for the Giants.

He led the Giants to their first win since Week 4, beating the Miami Dolphins 36-20.

Manning finished the day 20-for-28 passing with 283 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions. He now has 366 career touchdown passes and a 117-117 record as a starter.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - If this really was the end for Eli Manning, at least it was a fitting finale.

And if this wasn't the end ... well, maybe it should be.

The Giants' icon got to go out a winner, and once again heard the cheers from the crowd, in what might easily was the best performance of his final season in New York. The 38-year-old quarterback completed 20 of his 28 passes for 283 yards and threw two touchdowns. Sure, he also threw three interceptions. But his performance was enough to snap the Giants' franchise-record-tying nine-game losing streak and to beat the Miami Dolphins 36-20.

If you didn't think rookie WR Darius Slayton solidified himself as a draft steal for the Giants before Monday Night Football, he definitely changed your mind after his performance against the Eagles.

It was a career game: five catches on eight Eli Manning targets for 154 yards and two touchdowns -- both of which came in the second quarter. That output gives Slayton 386 yards and four touchdowns on 25 catches in his last four games.

Slayton's first Monday night game came in Week 9 against the Cowboys, and he only saw one catch for six yards all night. This time around, he didn't want to see that kind of stat line in a primetime matchup, especially his first taste of the Giants-Eagles rivalry.

PHILADELPHIA - Eli Manning has built his career on storybook endings. But he couldn't do it one more time.

After 11 weeks of standing on the sidelines watching his successor in his old job, the 38-year-old Manning showed everyone on Monday night that there's still at least a little life left in his right arm - but just not nearly enough to give the Giants a much-needed victory. After a red-hot first half he cooled down considerably in the second.

That opened the door for the Eagles to rally from a 14-point halftime deficit and send the game into overtime. And when Carson Wentz hit Zach Ertz with a two-yard touchdown pass at the end of their first possession, the Eagles had a 23-17 win.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - John Mara is going to have to do something after this season is over, assuming it keeps heading in its current direction. But if he doesn't want to fire Pat Shurmur - and so far all indications are that's not a move he wants to make - an easy scapegoat is emerging.

So defensive coordinator James Bettcher shouldn't feel too comfortable right now.

His defense is atrocious and it wasn't all that better last year, and it was bad again on Sunday in the Giants' 31-13 loss to the Packers. The coach with the supposedly aggressive scheme can't seem to find a pass rush, and his secondary has become a mess of blown coverages. The defense is far from the sole reason why the Giants are 2-10 and riding a miserable streak of eight straight losses.

Da'Mari Scott (Vincent Carchietta)
Da'Mari Scott (Vincent Carchietta)

With an extra roster spot due to the Giants waiving Bennie Fowler, the team has promoted WR Da'Mari Scott from the practice squad.

Scott's arrival could be due to the need for a punt returner given Jabrill Peppers and Golden Tate are both injured. Tate suffered a concussion in the loss to the Bears, while Peppers left the game early with a transverse process fracture.

There are other options already on the roster, though, depending on who head coach Pat Shurmur wants out for punts against the Packers on Sunday. Corey Ballentine and Darius Slayton have both been used for kick returns, and Ballentine especially has the prowess to return punts given his time at Wasburn University doing just that.

The Giants announced Friday morning that they'll be without the top two tight ends on their depth chart this Sunday against the Bears, as Evan Engram and Rhett Ellison have both officially been listed as out.

Additionally, Janoris Jenkins, Nate Solder and Sterling Shepard have yet to be cleared from the concussion protocol, and will be evaluated later today for a final decision. However, Pat Shurmur expects all three to be cleared and ready to go for Sunday.

Engram will continue to nurse the mid-foot sprain he suffered back in Week 9, as Ellison moves on in his recovery from a concussion.

What should you expect from the Giants coming out of the bye? Well, for one, expect more balls to be thrown WR Darius Slayton's way.

It's been a solid rookie connection between QB Daniel Jones and Slayton all season, and it took a big leap in the tough loss to the Jets two weeks ago. Slayton set a bunch of career highs in targets (14), receptions (10), and yards (121) while hauling in two touchdowns as well.

This was the breakout performance many in the Giants facility believed this fifth-round pick was capable of. And because of it, Jones said that he'll be looking his way more often.

After six straight losses, the Giants are in a rut. And they're coming off the bye week with three tough games ahead that could further that losing streak.

Head coach Pat Shurmur and his staff have taken the off week to look into what could turn things around, and give this team a boost heading into the homestretch of the season. And while those changes will reveal themselves this week against the Bears, Shurmur has already started a certain change during practice that he hopes will help.

For those that have been to training camp or gotten to watch practice, you'll notice music playing. It keeps the players loose and the playlist has horns in between songs to trigger the next drill to be done.

There wasn't a lot to pull out of the Giants' loss to the Jets on Sunday that could be chalked up as a positive. Saquon Barkley rushed for one total yard, the defense once again broke down and let up chunk plays throughout, and most importantly, the Giants lost to a 1-7 team that had just lost to the Dolphins -- a winless team prior to their matchup.

However, Giants WR Darius Slayton had the best game of his rookie season.

Slayton was targeted 14 times by rookie QB Daniel Jones, hauling in 10 for 121 yards and two touchdowns. It was Slayton's first 100-yard game, and now he has five touchdowns over his first eight games.

The Giants came up short Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, where the 34-27 final score favored the Jets.

Perhaps the margin would have been much further apart if not for Giants rookie wide receiver Darius Slayton's career-best performance.

Slayton caught 10 passes on 14 targets and compiled 121 yards (12.1 per reception) and totaled two touchdowns, including a long of 39.

In their first game against each other at their shared home in MetLife Stadium, Daniel Jones and Sam Darnold put up some solid numbers for their respective teams. But Darnold got the last laugh as the Jets pulled out a 34-27 win over the Giants.

On paper, it seems that Jones got the best of Darnold based on individual statistics--Jones finished the game 26-of-40 for 308 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions, compared to Darnold's not as eye popping performance of 230 yards and one touchdown on 19-of-30 passing--Darnold also ran in for a touchdown, as well.

But the glaring issues for Jones came at a familiar spot that's been hurting him all season: holding on to the football while in the pocket.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - If there was one consistent knock on Daniel Jones coming out of college, it was his penchant for turning the ball over -- including too many fumbles.

That has become his biggest problem so far in the NFL.

He added three more turnovers to his season total in a 37-18 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night. He now has eight interceptions and 10 fumbles (eight lost) in his eight games (and seven starts). Both of his first two turnovers led to Cowboys field goals on Monday night, not to mention huge momentum swings. The third was returned for a garbage time touchdown that padded the final score.

Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton credits his rookie successes to every team in the NFL.

Slayton was the Giants' fifth-round pick at the 2019 NFL draft. Like most Round 5 selections, Slayton thought he deserve to be picked ahead of Day 3 of the draft. While in the past, Slayton said every team passing on him at least four times motivates him in the present.

"I got drafted in the fifth round, and I felt like I was a better player than that," Slayton told The Post. I feel like I was a Day 1, Day 2 guy. I went on Day 3, and it's definitely something that's fueled me since I've been here."

When NFL teams prepare for the Draft each year, they all hope to find that Day 2 or even Day 3 talent that is a diamond in the rough. Having later-round talent make an impact is how good teams become great.

Fifth-round pick in WR Darius Slayton could turn into one of those players for the Giants.

Slayton came out of Auburn as a player scouts knew had the wheels (he ran a 4.39-second 40-yard dash), but needed some polishing when it came to route running and hauling the ball in without drops.

For the Giants to keep their season afloat, they needed to come away with a victory on the road against the Lions with a tough schedule ahead. But they dropped their fourth straight game in a 31-26 loss to Detroit to fall to 2-6 on the season. >> Box Score

Seven Takeaways from Sunday's loss...

1) A week after losing three fumbles and having a sub-par game against the Cardinals, rookie QB Daniel Jones had a big bounce back game. He was 28-for-41 with 322 yards and four touchdowns to no interceptions. There were a couple plays that Jones would love to have back, especially the Lions' first touchdown on what was deemed a lateral to Saquon Barkley. However, he did have some nice passes like his two touchdown throws to Darius Slayton -- the second being a beautifully thrown deep ball that Slayton could only go up to grab. Improvement is what the Giants want to see, and that's what occurred in Detroit for Jones.

Bennie Fowler (Vincent Carchietta)

The Giants wide receiving corps has taken its fair share of losses early this season, and unfortunately it continued this past week with Sterling Shepard out against the Patriots as he dealt with his second concussion already this season.

Shepard's status for Week 7 is also up in the air, so the Giants are bringing back a familiar face to fill what could be a void this Sunday.

Bennie Fowler has re-signed with the Giants, SNY's Ralph Vacchiano confirmed. Releasing Nate Stupar was the corresponding move to place Fowler on the 53-man roster.

Sterling Shepard is out for the Giants' game in New England on Thursday night, and it seems like he'll probably miss the game against the Arizona Cardinals 10 days later, too. A source said that he is likely to be out a while, given his recent history of concussions.

That means the Giants will have to replace him for at least the next few weeks.

Now, Giants coach Pat Shurmur wouldn't rule out going with the four healthy receivers on the roster -- Golden Tate, Cody Latimer, rookie Darius Slayton and special teamer Cody Core -- at least for the near future. Eventually, though, they may need more depth, especially if Shepard's absence extends into November.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - After a wonderful first two games as the starting quarterback of the Giants, Daniel Jones got a taste of what Eli Manning had to endure over most of the previous six years:

Life as a quarterback on a bad team.

There was pretty much nothing Jones could do with a depleted rushing attack behind him, a struggling offensive line in front of him, and a porous defense on the other side - all things that should feel very, very familiar to his current backup. He was 21 of 38 for 182 yards, which isn't exactly good, but also was about what was expected considering he was making his third NFL start and was facing the NFL's sixth-ranked defense (and maybe the league's best secondary).

That is until he started to sling the pigskin...
