DeAndre Daniels

STORRS, Conn. -- UConn F DeAndre Daniels will miss tonight's game against Houston as he nurses an injured right ankle.

Daniels injured the ankle in Saturday's win over Rutgers, and returned in the second half after he hurt it, but was placed in a protective boot and didn't practice on Wednesday. The Huskies are off for a week before they play at Cincinnati, and with the teeth of the schedule coming the Huskies are sitting the limited Daniels out.

The Huskies will start F Niels Giffey in his place. If the Huskies need more size and rebounding, Tyler Olander, Phil Nolan and Kentan Facey could play with Amida Brimah in a bigger lineup.

UConn forward DeAndre Daniels is in a boot, and didn't practice, but head coach Kevin Ollie didn't rule him out for Thursday's game against Houston.

Speaking to reporters after practice on Wednesday, Ollie gave Daniels a 60-65 percent health rating and said the probability of him playing will determined during shoot-arounds on Thursday.

HARTFORD, Conn. -- DeAndre Daniels' game is smooth.

Everything about the 6-foot-8 junior forward is calm, efficient and effortless. When he is going good, as he was in a career-high 31 points against Temple Tuesday night, he can dominate a game and make it look easy and is beautiful to watch.

There are few players in the country with the size and inside-outside game of the athletic junior forward. ?He's shooting 47 percent from the floor and 48 percent from 3-point range and can score from deep and get to the rim or post-up and everything in between.
